One of the reasons why the American woman decided to leave Ecuador to return to Vietnam to live was because she wanted to enjoy this specialty fruit, which she could eat every day without getting bored.
Hanna Larsen (commonly known as Na, 31 years old, American) once caused a "fever" on Vietnamese social networks with her beautiful love story with Thanh Duc (from Nghe An ). They currently have 2 children and have just returned to Vietnam after 3 years living in Ecuador.
Hanna said her family decided to move to the South because the weather there is quite similar to Ecuador. Besides, the South also has a diverse source of fruit, suitable for her vegan lifestyle.
The American female tourist revealed that durian is her favorite fruit, so every time she comes to Vietnam, she looks for and enjoys it. She has tried several different types of durian and has “pocketed” some experience in choosing the best fruit.
To buy durian, Hanna went to the market early. The area where she lives currently sells two types of durian at different prices: 50,000 VND and 90,000 VND/kg.
After smelling the fruit and observing its appearance, Hanna asked the seller for more advice so she could choose the fruit she liked.
“The seller told me very sincerely that I should buy the durian that costs 50,000 VND/kg because they found this fruit more delicious. And I decided to buy a fruit that weighed more than 2kg,” Hanna said.
The type that the American customer bought was the “cow barn” durian. This is a domestic durian variety, slightly round in size with a pointed tail, weighing from 1 to 2.5 kg.
Compared to other varieties, "cow barn" durian is said to have a slightly sweet and fatty taste. When cut open, the durian flesh is light yellow, soft and slightly mushy. Although the quality is not as highly regarded as Ri6 durian, milk durian, etc., this type of durian is cheaper and suitable for those who do not like strong sweetness.
Hanna said she was very happy to buy a delicious durian and was eager to enjoy it.
“Durian is extremely delicious, with a rich, creamy taste. If you eat it many times, I think everyone will like this fruit because it is sweet and rich in nutrients,” Hanna shared.
According to the female tourist, durian is grown mainly in the provinces of the Southeast, Mekong Delta and Central Highlands with many different types and prices.
Compared to familiar fruits like bananas, avocados, etc., she finds durian more expensive.
“If I didn’t care about the price, I could eat durian every day. I can also enjoy this fruit at any time of the day. Morning, noon or night,” she said.
Hanna also humorously revealed that her two daughters also like durian, perhaps because she “ate this fruit when she was pregnant”.
