The patient was admitted to the hospital with a large belly (like a 5-month pregnancy), severe pain in the lower abdomen, pale body, and fatigue. Through examination, ultrasound, and CT scan, the doctors discovered that the patient had many very large fibroids in the uterus, requiring surgical removal. In particular, blood test results showed that the patient was severely anemic.
To ensure safety, the patient received a blood transfusion 1 day before surgery. During the surgery, doctors found that the fibroid was not only large but also widespread, occupying almost all of the healthy tissue of the uterus. Therefore, the team was forced to perform a hysterectomy to protect the patient's health and life. The fibroid weighed up to 3kg after being surgically removed.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Nga, Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, Hoan My Dong Nai Hospital, said that uterine fibroids are a common gynecological disease, accounting for 30% of women of reproductive age. If not detected and treated promptly, the disease can cause many dangerous complications such as: menorrhagia, prolonged bleeding, anemia, persistent abdominal pain, and even affect women's fertility.
Russian doctors recommend that women should have a gynecological examination at least every 6 months to promptly detect potential problems and avoid serious health effects.
