In recent days, a clip recording the scene of traffic police using a special car to take a girl having a seizure to the emergency room has been widely shared on social networks.
“My family would like to thank the enthusiasm of the traffic police at the beginning of the Noi Bai – Lao Cai highway. My child had a fever, convulsions, and lost consciousness. Thanks to you, he was given timely emergency care,” a person posted on a traffic forum.
According to Tuoi Tre Online, the person in the clip is Ms. Hoa. About 2 days earlier, on the way from Phu Tho to Hanoi, Ms. Hoa discovered that her 2-year-old daughter had a high fever and had a seizure after sleeping.
The 5-seater car was speeding on the highway. The mother was restless because she was on the highway, “not knowing what to do”.
Arriving at the Km6 toll station (Soc Son, Hanoi), seeing the traffic police on duty, they immediately pulled over and asked for help.
Hearing the family explain that the child was cyanotic and showing signs of respiratory failure, Senior Lieutenant Pham Quoc Viet - an officer of the Highway Traffic Police Team No. 1 of the Traffic Police Department, quickly reported to the commander, then used a special vehicle to take Ms. Hoa and her child to the nearest hospital.
In the police car, the mother kept talking to her daughter to keep her awake. She said that her daughter had fallen once before and had a seizure. She was quite panicked at first, but calmed herself down to take care of her child.
“We turned on our signal lights, used loudspeakers to ask priority vehicles to give way, and tried to find the nearest medical station,” said Lieutenant Viet.
After 10 minutes, the car stopped at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases (Dong Anh District, Hanoi), the child received timely emergency care and was out of danger. The child then gradually regained consciousness.
"After two hours at the hospital, the family took the child to the National Children's Hospital for a more thorough examination. His health is now stable," said Ms. Hoa.
On the afternoon of December 30, the family representative went to the headquarters of Highway Traffic Police Team No. 1 to thank Senior Lieutenant Viet and his teammates.
