After many negotiations, FPT Play officially bought the television rights to the opening match of the 2nd qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup of Vietnam in the away match against the Philippines. The unit refused to disclose the amount spent to buy the copyright, but the partner is likely to accept a last-minute discount.
“The journey of coach Troussier and his team in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers this November will be fully sent by FPT Play to millions of Vietnamese football fans.
The journey will begin with an away match in Manila against the host team Philippines (November 16), followed by a match against the strongest opponent in the group, Iraq (November 21).
Faced with difficulties and challenges, Coach Troussier is eager for a good start to serve as a springboard for his ambition to advance deep into the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, as well as dispel all doubts in the past time," the television station announced.
This is the only television station in Vietnam that bought the copyright for the Vietnam-Philippines match, more than 24 hours before kick-off.
In addition to the opening away match of the Vietnamese team, the three home matches against Iraq (November 21), Indonesia (March 26, 2024) and the Philippines (June 6, 2024) of coach Troussier and his team will also be broadcast live by this station.
The match between Vietnam and the Philippines will take place at 6:00 p.m. on November 16 at Rizal Memorial Stadium, Manila.
