On the morning of August 26, hundreds of Hai Phong residents braved the rain to bid farewell to the late Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh to his final resting place.
Attending the memorial service for the late Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh were former President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and many leaders and former leaders of central ministries, departments and agencies.
Reading the eulogy at the memorial service, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai said that during his 35 years of work, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh always actively studied, worked, and devoted himself to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation and the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
Regardless of his position, Comrade Le Van Thanh is always a shining example of political courage, pioneering spirit of innovation, daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility. He is also a loyal revolutionary party member, constantly striving to study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.
As a senior leader of the Party, Comrade Le Van Thanh always devoted all his intelligence and enthusiasm, contributing many important opinions to the major issues of the country. As Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, Comrade Le Van Thanh made many important contributions to the development of the city.
Specifically, consulting, building one hundred bridges, completing the traffic infrastructure system, building green parks, policies and mechanisms on education, renovating old apartments, supporting cement for house repair, raising social allowance levels, etc.
As Deputy Prime Minister, Comrade Le Van Thanh focused on directing and perfecting institutions in assigned fields. He directed the completion of regional and provincial planning and left behind many good lessons and valuable experiences.

On behalf of his family, Mr. Le Toan Khanh (son of the late Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh) expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the leaders of the Party, State, and the Central Committee for the Protection of Cadres' Health.

For many Hai Phong residents, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh is the one who has helped change the face of the city in recent years, when not only the urban space and connecting traffic infrastructure but also the mechanisms and policies have been significantly improved.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc (56 years old, residing in Hong Bang district, Hai Phong city) was moved to express Mr. Thanh's wholehearted and devoted contributions to the city. Mr. Le Van Thanh (born October 20, 1962) joined the Party on June 24, 1997, hometown in Tan Lien commune, Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong city.
In Hai Phong, he held the positions of director of Hai Phong Cement Company, vice chairman and then chairman of the city People's Committee; secretary of the City Party Committee, chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Council,...
Before his death, Mr. Thanh was a member of the Party Central Committee, 12th and 13th terms; a delegate of the 12th National Assembly; and Deputy Prime Minister from April 2021 to present.
After the memorial service, the late Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh was buried before 11:00 a.m. on August 25, at his hometown cemetery in Tan Lien commune, Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong city.
