Mr. Phan Ngoc Hai (51 years old, street vendor) and his nephew, a new student at the University of Transport, took a bus from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang to take his nephew to receive the Tiep Suc Den Truong scholarship.

Present at the scholarship awarding point very early, Mr. Phan Ngoc Hai (51 years old, residing in An Nhon town, Binh Dinh province) said that when he heard that his nephew received the Tiep suc den truong scholarship, he saved up and bought two bus tickets to Nha Trang to receive the scholarship.

Mr. Hai said that his daily job is selling goods on the streets of Ho Chi Minh City. The work is hard, but he still tries to raise his two children and his nephew, Tran Van Tinh (a freshman at Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport).

“I was so happy. When I heard that my nephew had received a scholarship, I ran to the bus station to buy a ticket to return home on time. The work was hard, but I loved my nephew very much. He was an orphan, so he lived with me in Ho Chi Minh City,” said Mr. Hai.

And new student Tran Van Tinh could not hide his emotion when he received a scholarship from the program "Tiep suc den truong" .

“I was very happy. My mother passed away when I was in 3rd grade. My father passed away when I was in 6th grade. Since then, I have only relied on my uncle Hai. Since I started school, my uncle and I have been very worried because we don’t know where to get the money to pay the tuition.

Today I received the scholarship to support the school , I thought it was a dream, last night I couldn't sleep on the bus because I was so happy" - new student Tran Van Tinh said.

From Ninh Thuan, Tran Thi Thu Hien and her mother, today her mother took a day off from selling vegetables to return to Nha Trang to receive a scholarship.

Hien grew up without a father, her mother worked hard to raise 4 children. Her mother was her only support. She took 2 years off school to work, doing many different jobs, but with her passion for studying, in 2024, Hien decided to return to study for the exam, and is now a freshman at Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics.

"I hope that with this scholarship, my mother will have less hardship. This scholarship is the motivation for me to continue on the path I have chosen" - Hien shared.

Happy to be with her child at the scholarship award ceremony, Mrs. Tran Thi Loan (Hien's mother) expressed her gratitude to the program for giving Hien the motivation to move forward.

"I just hope my child will always be happy on the path of learning. No matter how difficult it is, I will give him a full education so that when he grows up, he will be a useful person to society," said Ms. Loan.

Mr. Phan Nguyen Hoang Long - Head of the Youth Movement Committee of Ninh Thuan Provincial Youth Union - said that at 5:00 a.m., he and 12 new students from Ninh Thuan province took a 16-seat bus to Nha Trang to attend the program.

“Everyone was nervous. The group didn’t even dare to eat breakfast along the way for fear of being late. Even though we woke up early, the atmosphere on the bus was very happy. The new students were all excited. I was too, the scholarship was really meaningful,” he said.

In the past, Ninh Thuan Provincial Youth Union has always supported Tuoi Tre newspaper in searching and selecting new students with difficulties.

His mother died of cancer, his father worked as a construction worker to raise 3 children, the whole family lived on government subsidies, new student Pham Minh Hieu - majoring in Tourism, Khanh Hoa University - said that the Tiep Suc Den Truong scholarship is like a lifebuoy that helps him feel less uncertain on his learning journey.

“This dream is so beautiful, I would like to thank the donors and Tuoi Tre newspaper for giving me a scholarship so that I can confidently go to university. I dare not promise that I will succeed, but I will definitely become a useful person for society and come back to help other new students like I was helped” – Minh Hieu said emotionally.

Ms. Le Thi Huong - Deputy Head of School Youth Committee, Khanh Hoa Provincial Youth Union - said that she has known about the "Tiep suc den truong" scholarship for a long time, but this is the first time she has supported new students in Khanh Hoa province to receive the "Tiep suc den truong" scholarship.

“This is a very meaningful program because perhaps the most difficult period for the students is the period of entering the university. The total cost of the scholarship program " Tiep suc den truong" for new students in the three provinces of Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Dinh is over 900 million VND (excluding travel, accommodation and gifts from the program) sponsored by Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest State-owned Company Limited, Khanh Hoa Lottery Company Limited, Khanh Viet Corporation, Sanest Khanh Hoa Beverage Joint Stock Company and readers of Tuoi Tre newspaper. Each scholarship is worth 15 million VND in cash.

In addition, the program also donated 3 laptops to new students with special difficulties and lack of learning equipment, sponsored by Vinacam Scholarship Fund - Vinacam Group Joint Stock Company.

The Vietnam-USA Society English System supports 10 free IELTS English scholarships for new students in Khanh Hoa province who receive scholarships from the program. Nestlé Vietnam Co., Ltd. sponsors backpacks for new students.

Through the State Bank, Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank sponsored 60 books on financial education, guiding financial management skills for new students. Vietwings Bird's Nest Company Limited supported 60 high-class gifts of Vietwings Bird's Nest for new students.

This is the seventh awarding point in the 2024 "Support to School" scholarship program for new students under the 596th "For Tomorrow's Development" program of Tuoi Tre newspaper. The 2024 "Support to School" scholarship program of Tuoi Tre newspaper is for more than 1,100 new students in difficult circumstances nationwide with a total cost of more than 20 billion VND.
