Deputy Director in charge of the Vietnam Cyber Emergency Response Center - Dang Huy Hoang said: the situation of spam messages, calls, and scam calls still exists and comes from causes such as junk SIM cards and leaked user information.
According to the Inspector of the Ministry of Information and Communications, spam messages and calls are made for many different purposes.
Missed calls are intended to cause users to call or text back to numbers providing content services for profit or advertising.
Spam messages and calls can be used to solicit investment, real estate sales, insurance, credit... or even impersonate authorities to defraud, appropriate property, and money...
To deal with the situation of spam messages and calls, the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Information and Communications has coordinated with network operators to review and block spam messages and calls.
In addition, the Ministry also strengthens inspection and examination of anti-spam messages and calls, registration activities, and use of mobile subscriber information with units using multiple SIM cards, with unusual signs, unclear purposes, and not suitable for actual needs.
