At the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in Lai Da village, Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh, Hanoi, on the morning of July 26, people lined up from the village gate to the village cultural house for nearly 1km.
Glasses of water and fans to dispel the summer sun
The July sun rose early, the road through the small village was narrow and had no trees but that did not stop the flow of people heading to the memorial.
Not only that, Lai Da people also contributed, they brought the fans with wires into the house, facing the street to help the crowd dispel the heat.
Waking up early, Mr. Ngo Quy Cuong (Hamlet 10, Lai Da village) was busy smashing bags of ice, then carrying boxes of filtered water and soft drinks to the distribution points of the functional forces.
From the front door of his house, the electric wire is extended inside with 4 standing fans facing the street. Looking at the long line of people lining up in front of his house, Mr. Cuong said he wanted to contribute a little to share with visitors from all over the world who came to his hometown to commemorate General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Not far away, Ms. Dao Thi Hien, Bac Son hamlet, Lai Da village, emotionally said that she was very proud and honored to serve the people who came to visit the General Secretary, so without anyone telling her, she woke up from 4-5am and only went to bed after 11:30pm.
“We saw that people from all over the country were having a hard time coming here in the hot weather, so we gathered to do something. We discussed and each person contributed a little bit. Yesterday, I bought 15kg of lemons, this morning I bought another 30kg and many bags of sugar to make lemonade for people traveling long distances to quench their thirst and fatigue, especially the elderly,” said Ms. Hien.

The same morning, the weather was hot, at only 9:00 or 10:00 a.m., the sun was already scorching, the line of people lining up to visit the General Secretary on Tang Bat Ho street, from time to time they saw fans of affection placed in front of their houses by people on the street.
Some offices even open their doors and turn on the air conditioners so that people can enjoy the cool breeze when passing by. Many people passing by these fans and air conditioners have complimented the owners: “So lovely.”
On Lo Duc Street, on the evening of July 25, the number of people waiting in line to pay their respects to the General Secretary was so large that the free parking lots arranged by the local government were full. Some shops along both sides of the street also voluntarily allowed people to pay their respects to the General Secretary to park their vehicles for free.

Blue shirt brings water, refuses the heat
Outside on the street, the police force and youth union members were drenched in sweat. They were on duty to regulate the crowd, handing out water and free paper fans. Many union members stood continuously from afternoon to night, fanning the crowd heading towards the Lai Da village cultural house.
Holding a cup of cool water from a volunteer, Ms. Dang Thi Lien said she went from Ha Nam to Lai Da village at 7am with other volunteers. She only saw General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on TV, but Ms. Lien felt that the General Secretary was very close and intimate, and that the General Secretary's actions were supported by the people.
According to Mr. To Viet Dung - Secretary of Dong Anh District Youth Union, these days, Dong Anh youth are coordinating with functional forces to coordinate electric cars to transport the elderly, children, wounded and sick soldiers.
At the support points in Lai Da village, student volunteers distributed free water, cakes, fans, and raincoats to people coming from far away. The number of youth union members is estimated at nearly 1,000 volunteers. The district union also divided into 4 shifts to keep the volunteers healthy.

On the morning of July 26, a group of young people were assigned to support the kitchen to serve the forces on duty during the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
With the spirit of not being afraid of difficulties or hardships, volunteers and members of the "blue shirt" union from the General Secretary's hometown woke up early in the morning and left late at night, all to support this special funeral.
During the two days of national mourning, people witnessed many kind acts of kindness from those who lined up to pay their respects to the General Secretary. Although everyone was tired from waiting in a long line, when they saw someone tired from waiting in line, the elderly or children, they gave priority to inviting these people to go first.
Arriving at the funeral at 5am, Nguyen Minh Nguyet (Hanoi Youth Union) and other members stood in a row using hand fans to fan the people lining up to pay their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Fanning the people continuously, Nguyet said: “Today is very hot, there are many people in line so we decided to use hand fans to help people feel less tired. People came here earlier than us, from 3-4 am to line up. Besides, serving at the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is my pride.
