TPO – The pedestrian bridge across Nhieu Loc – Thi Nghe canal has officially been put into operation, making it convenient for people to travel and creating landscape on both banks.

The 100m long, 3m wide pedestrian bridge across the most beautiful canal in Ho Chi Minh City has been put into operation to help change the landscape and increase connectivity between the two banks. This is the first pedestrian bridge on the Nhieu Loc – Thi Nghe canal, connecting Hoang Sa Street, District 1 and Truong Sa Street, Binh Thanh District.

The project has a three-span reinforced concrete structure, with a clearance of about 3 m.

After 7 months of construction, the pedestrian bridge has been completed and officially put into use.

Mr. Phong (Binh Thanh District) shared: “After the bridge was officially put into operation, I often come here to exercise every morning. Today, the weather is nice so I took my daughter here to take pictures. The bridge makes it much more convenient for people to move back and forth between the two sides of the road.”

The pedestrian bridge is completed, people on both banks of Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe canal can easily move back and forth, without having to go around Dien Bien Phu bridge or Thi Nghe bridge.

“Everyone here is looking forward to the opening of this bridge. With this pedestrian bridge, traveling between District 1 and Binh Thanh District will be more convenient,” said Mr. Hoang Long (Binh Thanh District).

According to the Southern Power Project Management Board (SPMB) – the unit assigned to manage the project, the investor previously planned to drill underground through the canal to build tunnels and cable trenches. Later, Ho Chi Minh City proposed to build a bridge across the canal to facilitate people's travel, recreation and create more scenery.

The pedestrian bridge across Nhieu Loc – Thi Nghe canal is part of the 220kV Tao Dan – Tan Cang underground cable project, invested by the Southern Power Transmission Company with a length of 100m, width of more than 2m, total investment of about 10 billion VND.
