The 2nd Gong Culture Festival of Ethnic Minorities in Binh Dinh Province in 2023 took place at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square (Quy Nhon City) on the evening of December 16.

The festival attracted over 250 gong artists and performers from 7 gong troupes from localities such as Vinh Thanh, Van Canh, An Lao, Hoai An, Tay Son, and Phu Cat districts.

The highlight of this festival is the participation of Binh Dinh Ethnic Boarding High School.

Notably, throughout the opening night of the event, although it sometimes rained heavily, people and tourists wore raincoats and held umbrellas to watch.

The program also included many singing, dancing and traditional martial arts performances performed by singers and martial artists from Dam San Music and Dance Theater (Gia Lai province), Sao Bien Folk Music and Dance Theater (Phu Yen province) and the Provincial Cultural Center, the Provincial Traditional Martial Arts Center, creating a vibrant atmosphere, adding to the appeal and highlighting the cultural identity of the ethnic groups in Binh Dinh at the festival...

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival, Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan said that Binh Dinh is a place of convergence and cultural exchange of many ethnic groups in the region.

In addition to the majority Kinh ethnic group, Binh Dinh currently has 39 ethnic minorities living there. The main ones are the Cham H'roi, Bana, and H're ethnic groups, whose lifestyles and customs have many nuances, creating unique characteristics imbued with humanity and martial spirit of Binh Dinh culture.

Over the past years, Binh Dinh province has always prioritized investment resources to support ethnic minority areas; promoted the implementation of the National Target Program on socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas of Binh Dinh province, period 2021-2030; including the work of preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development.

"The festival aims to honor the fine traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic minorities, encourage the creation of new cultural values, promote the role of ethnic minorities in building and developing cultural life, preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the province," Mr. Pham Anh Tuan emphasized.
