Four years ago, instead of continuing to use dating apps, Jack Liu (now 40 years old) spent $1,000 to advertise himself on social media with the goal of finding true love.
He shared that his advertisement "gets straight to the point," urging interested women to click and fill out a form.
Each day, he reviews the responses, contacts those he finds interesting, and then arranges a meeting via Zoom. If the conversation goes well, they'll move on to an in-person meeting.
According to a Forbes Health survey in June 2024, 78% of dating people across the US felt "burned out" because dating apps didn't meet their expectations.
In the advertisement, Jack introduces himself as an ethical businessman who enjoys traveling . Facebook's algorithm helps him "select" potential girls with similar interests and hobbies.
He never imagined that the advertisement would be so effective in helping him find his ideal partner.
Bethany Landby (now 36 years old) from Boston, Texas, became the ideal candidate. The two began dating in 2021. "What caught my attention was that he knows how to dance tango and shares many of my interests," she said.
After three years together, the couple recently shared their love story, attracting a lot of attention.
