Man wins jackpot of up to 84 billion VND
In mid-September 2024, the Chinese Welfare Lottery announced the winning results. Among them, the story of a man named Hoang winning the jackpot of up to 24 million yuan (84 billion VND) especially attracted public attention.
Mr. Hoang said: "I have been buying lottery tickets for more than 10 years but have never spent more than 20 yuan (70,000 VND). I do not expect to win the jackpot. For me, buying lottery tickets is to contribute to charity activities and national development."
After receiving the 24 million yuan (84 billion VND) prize, Mr. Hoang donated 100,000 yuan (350 million VND) to the Anhui Provincial Charity Federation. He said he would use the remaining money to improve his family's living conditions. "We plan to buy a better house."
Secrets inspired by predecessors
A man surnamed Huang, who lives in Hefei City, Anhui Province, said he bought a 10 yuan (US$1.50) lottery ticket with numbers that combined the birth dates of his family members. Unexpectedly, this time, "luck" smiled on him.
On the day he received his prize, Hoang revealed his habit of buying lottery tickets for more than ten years. However, he always knows how to be frugal, not spending more than 20 yuan (more than 70,000 VND) on lottery tickets.
"When I first started playing, I liked to use random numbers. One day, I read a story about a person who won the lottery by using a combination of numbers from the birth dates of family members. Since 2017, I decided to do the same and have kept the same number series for the past 7 years. I never thought I would actually win the lottery!", he shared.
After being reported by The Information Times, Mr. Hoang’s story attracted a lot of attention from netizens. Most expressed admiration for the winner’s calm and persistent attitude.
"Seven years of perseverance, how admirable! And he donated to charity after winning, what a kind heart!"; "Why wasn't I the winner?",... some users commented.
