Recently, doctors at the Vietnam - Sweden Hospital, Uong Bi, said they had promptly saved the life of patient Nguyen Van D (70 years old, in Dong Trieu - Quang Ninh) who was in danger of death due to a large liver tumor measuring 5x5cm.
The patient's family said they were still in shock because they did not think his condition would be so serious.
It is known that in the past 5-6 months, Mr. D. had a feeling of bloating and indigestion, but he thought it was an old age disease so he did not go to the doctor. On the morning of his hospitalization, while he was playing chess, he felt severe abdominal pain, cramping pain that made him unable to walk. His family quickly took him to Dong Trieu Town Medical Center and then transferred him to Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital in a state of rapid pulse, distended abdomen, and abdominal cramps.
At the hospital, the abdominal CT scan showed a large liver tumor measuring 5x5cm and more seriously, the liver tumor had ruptured. The doctors quickly decided to perform an emergency embolization to temporarily stop the bleeding and revive the liver. Then, they quickly performed surgery to remove the liver tumor for the patient.
During surgery, the doctors found about 2,200 ml of blood clots and diluted blood in the patient's abdomen, complete cirrhosis of the liver, a tumor measuring nearly 5cm in size that had ruptured in the IV segment of the right liver, and blood was leaking. The doctors stopped the bleeding, removed the tumor and part of the IV segment of the right liver. Test results showed hepatocellular carcinoma .
