Mr. Nhon said that the profession of making rockery is the art of building, arranging, miniaturizing, and bringing masterpieces from nature such as large and large mountains into landscape gardens (artificial mountains) to create a feeling of closeness to nature for the homeowner. Passionate about the profession, he spent a long time traveling to many places in the West to learn. After mastering it, he chose this profession as a livelihood and has been attached to it for more than 20 years now.
Mr. Nhon has been in the profession of making rockery for more than 20 years.
According to Mr. Nhon, to make a rockery, the first important step is to choose the stone. It must be porous stone, easy to absorb water to nourish the plants, such as: coral stone, ancient stone, feather, cloud pattern, of which coral stone is the most suitable. "I buy the stone all the way from the Central region, each time about 30 - 40 tons, when I finish, I continue to buy. Ancient stone is very heavy, so when making it, there must be a very solid foundation to bear the weight", Mr. Nhon said.
The "giant" rockery is completed and beautifully combined with miniature landscapes, green trees, and bonsai.
After bringing the large blocks of stone to Can Tho, Mr. Nhon cut them into pieces, combined them with sand and cement to form large blocks, and then painted them to look like mountains. However, to make each piece of stone look like a mountain or simulated shape, it not only requires a lot of effort and skill in carving and assembling, but also requires a rich imagination.
Depending on the needs of customers, Mr. Nhon will create rockery with many different styles, such as: Phuc - Loc - Tho; Phu - Tu, Long - Lan - Qui - Phung... According to him, no matter what shape the mountain is in, it must follow a certain ratio between the stone pond, the base and the height of the mountain. "The rockery is beautiful thanks to the harmonious combination of the fish pond, the mountain, green trees, bonsai grown on rocks. Players can be creative by adding small ceramic statues on the mountain, such as: people fishing, old men playing chess, woodcutters, Buddha statues... Depending on the player's preferences", Mr. Nhon said.
