Man with mental illness, holding knife, swimming hundreds of meters in the sea, trying to commit suicide

On the morning of April 11, Hue City Police said that Thuan An Ward Police (Thuan Hoa District, Hue City) had just coordinated with the Border Guard force to promptly rescue a man carrying a weapon threatening to commit suicide, jumping into the sea and taking this person to the hospital for examination and treatment.

Previously, at 1:00 p.m. on April 10, Thuan An Ward Police received a report from residents about a middle-aged man who was acting abnormally, carrying two knives to the breakwater at Thai Duong Ha Bac residential group, Thuan An Ward, threatening to commit suicide. Through verification, it was determined that the man was Mr. HV M (born in 1975, residing in Thuan An Ward).

Immediately, the ward police assigned officers and soldiers to coordinate with the Thuan An Port Border Guard Station, the local security force and Mr. HV M's relatives to the scene to persuade Mr. M to give up his intention of committing suicide and return to his family.

Thuan An Ward Police and Thuan An Port Border Guard Station mobilized fishing boats to rescue Mr. M.

However, due to agitation, Mr. M suddenly jumped into the sea and swam hundreds of meters towards buoy number 0. Mr. M threatened to cut off his hand and commit suicide if anyone came to rescue him. Faced with this situation, the Thuan An Ward Police and the Thuan An Port Border Guard Station mobilized local fishermen's boats to rescue Mr. M. After many hours of persuasion and mobilization, at 6:00 p.m. the same day, the rescue force approached, took away the weapon from Mr. M's hand and brought him onto the boat to shore.

According to Thuan An Ward Police, Mr. M has recently shown signs of mental illness and is not normal. Previously, on April 8, Mr. M jumped off Phu Xuan Bridge to commit suicide and was also rescued by the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Hue City Police.
