The results showed that Mr. A's colon had a semi-pedunculated polyp approximately 1cm in size; 1 lesion in the pharyngeal area approximately 1cm in size and 1 lesion in the middle third of the esophagus approximately 2.5cm in size.

MSc.BSNT Luu Tuan Thanh - Head of the hospital's Gastroenterology Department said: The case of patient NTA has 3 risk factors for the disease: over 60 years old; history of drinking alcohol and smoking. In this patient, accidentally went for a routine health check and luckily discovered esophageal cancer .

What you need to know about esophageal cancer

According to Dr. Thanh, esophageal cancer in the early stages often has no obvious symptoms and is easily overlooked.

For people with risk factors such as: Over 50 years old; alcohol and tobacco abuse; overweight, obesity; esophageal diseases such as ulcers, Barrett's... should have annual health check-ups according to the schedule every 6 months or 1 year.
