Japan's Kanto Joho Union organized a fundraising event in Tokyo with the desire to share the difficulties of Vietnamese people affected by storm No. 3.
According to a VNA reporter in Tokyo, on September 14, Kanto Joho Union organized a fundraising event in Tokyo with the desire to share the difficulties of Vietnamese people affected by storm No. 3 (international name Yagi).
This is the first donation activity by Japanese people to support Vietnam after the storm.
The fundraising event was held within the framework of the 12th Japanese Speech Contest for Foreign Workers, run by the union.
Opening the speech contest, the union's chairman, Mr. Kenji Nishikawa, expressed his deep condolences to the Vietnamese people for the losses suffered in storm No. 3.
As a country frequently hit by typhoons, he said Japan understands the pain and loss that the Vietnamese people are experiencing.
Sharing with VNA reporters in Tokyo about the launch of the donation campaign to support the Vietnamese people, Mr. Kenji Nishikawa emphasized the importance of mutual support. He said his greatest wish is to be able to contribute a little effort to reduce some of the damage to the Vietnamese people.
Mr. Phan Tien Hoang, First Secretary, Head of the Labor Management Board of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, sent his thanks to the Kanto Joho Union and businesses that organized fundraising activities to support the Vietnamese people.
He expressed his emotion at the sympathy and sharing that the Japanese people have for Vietnam.
He believes that this affection and sharing is the most valuable source of encouragement that the Japanese people give to Vietnam in difficult times.
The total amount of donations was 200,000 yen (about 36 million VND), of which Kanto Joho Union donated 100,000 yen.
On the same day, the Vietnamese community in Saitama province also organized a fundraising activity for compatriots in the country affected by storm No. 3.
Speaking at the fundraising event, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Saitama Prefecture, Mr. Pham Dinh Thuong, said that Vietnamese people living in Saitama in particular and Japan in general always look towards their homeland and closely follow the difficulties that their compatriots are going through.
He expressed his hope that with the spirit of mutual love and support, the Vietnamese people in Saitama will join hands and share difficulties with their compatriots in the country.
Ms. Ngoc Yen, a Vietnamese living in Saitama, said that her hometown is Hai Phong - one of the localities that suffered damage from storm No. 3. Not only her relatives but also her compatriots in the North are suffering severe consequences due to natural disasters, therefore, she and many other Vietnamese people living in Japan always turn to the Fatherland and wish to join hands to contribute and support their compatriots in the country.
The total amount collected at the fundraising ceremony of the Vietnamese Association in Saitama was 119,000 yen (about 21 million VND).
