People are worried and insecure because of fake milk, fake medicine and the sudden increase in gold prices.

On April 17, at the 3rd Conference of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 10th tenure, many opinions reflected the people's anxiety and insecurity about the sudden increase in gold prices, the situation of fake milk and fake medicine affecting people's health.

These are also the issues raised in the Draft Report synthesizing opinions and recommendations of voters and people sent by the Vietnam Fatherland Front to the 9th Session of the 15th National Assembly. The draft report synthesizes 54 out of 63 reports reflecting the situation and recommendations of voters and people of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of provinces and cities; 15 reports of member organizations of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Don't let the phenomenon of "one meal managed by 5 people" happen

Ms. Nguyen Thi Doan, former Vice President and member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, emphasized the need to clarify the responsible management unit to protect people's health. According to her, the lack of clarity about management responsibilities is leading to the consequence of "a meal being managed by up to 5 people," making it difficult to ensure people's health safety.

Recently, food safety issues have been causing public outrage, especially the incident involving 600 types of fake milk and the out-of-control situation of street food.

The former Vice President raised urgent questions: "Which agency is currently in charge of managing dairy products when the Ministry of Industry and Trade has responded that milk is not subject to management? So who will be responsible for managing these 600 types of fake milk? Similarly, for street food, especially cheap meat sticks (VND5,000 - 10,000) sold at school gates for students, who will ensure the quality, whether it is dirty meat or clean meat?" Ms. Nguyen Thi Doan said that these are outstanding issues that need to be clarified to protect public health.

Professor, Dr. Tran Ngoc Duong, Chairman of the Advisory Council on Democracy and Law under the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, recommended condemning and finding drastic and effective solutions to completely resolve the "problem" of fake milk, especially the case involving nearly 600 types of fake milk.

Professor Duong pointed out that these businesses used false advertising, stating that the ingredients were extracted from rare materials such as bird's nest, cordyceps, macadamia powder, walnut powder, etc., while in reality the products did not contain these substances at all. More seriously, famous figures in the showbiz world helped to advertise these products, causing the "deception of the people" to last for 4 years.

From there, Professor, Dr. Tran Ngoc Duong emphasized the need to strongly condemn and completely end this situation, and at the same time requested that authorities need to promptly detect and strictly handle similar cases.

Need a solution to stabilize gold prices

Sharing the same view with the former Vice President, Ms. Nguyen Thi Doan, member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Ms. Bui Thi Thanh also pointed out the deep concerns and insecurities of the people about many issues. Among them, the issue of food hygiene and safety, especially the situation of fake milk (with the case of 573 types of fake milk) and the difficulty of controlling street food, are causing headaches and seriously affecting people's health.

Expanding further, Ms. Bui Thi Thanh also pointed out other concerns, worries and insecurities of the people, including the sudden increase in gold prices, the problem of fake drugs, poor quality counterfeit goods, as well as concerns about the disruption after the merger and arrangement of provincial administrative units, especially the issue of "who goes and who stays." In addition, she also mentioned the reality of fraud in cyberspace causing insecurity in the community.

From these realities, Ms. Thanh suggested that the Vietnam Fatherland Front should recommend to the Party and Government to soon take measures to stabilize gold prices, help people feel secure and confident, and at the same time strictly handle high-tech crimes and crimes of producing and trading counterfeit and poor-quality goods.

Along with that, in the draft summarizing voters' and people's opinions sent by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels to the 9th Session of the 15th National Assembly, voters also expressed concern about the strong and unpredictable fluctuations in gold prices in recent times.

The rapid increase in gold prices can lead to inflation, affecting the prices of goods and the general economic life. Voters and the people want the State to stabilize the gold market and tighten the control of organizations and individuals trading in gold, avoiding speculation and price manipulation, which affects people's lives.

Therefore, the people expect the Government to have solutions to maintain economic stability, control inflation, stabilize exchange rates, publicize information about projects, create conditions for economic sectors to develop sustainably, increase people's income and have policies to support the poor, while promoting the development of the real estate market and creating conditions for low-income people to have stable housing.
