District 3 is the last locality to hand over the site for metro line 2 project, with nearly 7,200m² of residential area needing to be cleared and relocated.
Metro Line No. 2 Ben Thanh - Tham Luong is invested by Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board.
The project will pass through 6 districts: 1, 3, 10, 12, Tan Binh, Tan Phu of Ho Chi Minh City with a total clearance area of about 251,000m². And there are 585 households and organizations that must be relocated during the project clearance process.
Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online, a representative of the District 3 Compensation and Site Clearance Board said that as of June 18, 108/112 households in need of site clearance in the district had demolished their houses and handed over the site.
"The remaining four households are stuck with legal procedures, and the local authorities are trying to hand over 100% of the land to the project by the end of June."
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board said that the Ben Thanh - Tham Luong metro project had cleared 95% of the land.
The entire site will be completed in June. By July, all infrastructure works on the route will be relocated, and in 2025, the clean site will be handed over to contractors.

On the morning of June 18, workers demolished the last houses that had not been relocated on Cach Mang Thang Tam Street (near the Democracy roundabout).
The family of Ms. Pham Thi Phuong Nga (64 years old) moved the spare parts equipment of the auto repair shop to a new place.
After moving, the family will hire workers to demolish the house and return the site to the project.
"I rent this house. After many negotiations with the local authorities, today I will start to demolish it. Everyone agrees, so I will also respond to hope that the project will soon be carried out" - Ms. Phan Thi My Nuong (Phu Nhuan district) shared.

Nearby trees are also trimmed to avoid affecting the project site.
Some households, after moving their houses further inside, have repaired and rebuilt them to continue living and doing business.
Ms. Xuan Lan's family was compensated 3.1 billion VND. "My family moved to buy a house in Binh Tan district. The area that does not affect the project will be renovated for business because the frontage is still more convenient for business. I hope that the modern project will be built soon, making it more convenient for people to travel." Ms. Lan said.
The entire metro line No. 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong) is about 11km long, including 9km underground, 9 underground stations and 1 elevated station. The total initial investment capital of the project is about 47,800 billion VND.
