Bac Kan people highly agree with the merger of the province with Thai Nguyen province.

NDO - According to information from the Department of Home Affairs of Bac Kan, the results of the survey showed that more than 99% of local people agreed with the policy of merging Bac Kan province with Thai Nguyen province.

According to the Bac Kan Department of Home Affairs, the total number of voters representing households listed for voting is 82,273 people.

As a result, the number of voters who participated in giving their opinions was 81,686 people, reaching more than 99%. Voters' opinions were highly unanimous with the project to merge Bac Kan province with Thai Nguyen province and the project to rearrange commune-level administrative units of Bac Kan province.

Specifically, for the project to merge Bac Kan and Thai Nguyen provinces, 99.07% of voters agreed. Of which, 53 units recorded absolute agreement (100%).

Regarding the project to rearrange administrative units at the commune level of Bac Kan province, the number of voters in agreement was 97.49%. Of which, 51 communes, wards and towns had an agreement rate of 100%.

It is known that according to the project, Bac Kan province plans to rearrange 108 communes, wards and towns to establish 37 new commune administrative units, including 35 communes and 2 wards; a reduction of more than 65% compared to present.

The arrangement of commune administrative units carefully considers historical, cultural, geographical factors, etc. to promote advantages and expand development space.

Meanwhile, regarding the merger of Bac Kan province and Thai Nguyen province, the project will merge the two provinces, naming the new province Thai Nguyen, with the provincial capital located in the current Thai Nguyen city.

The new province after the merger will have an area of ​​over 8,375km2 , a population of nearly 1.8 million people, with 77 communes and 15 wards.
