The elderly set a shining example in building their homeland.

For more than 12 years as Chairman of the Elderly Association of Hoa Vang district, Mr. Le Nguyen Dung has promoted his experience and enthusiasm in activities, recognized by the government and loved by the people. He focuses on building a strong association, developing more than 1,670 members in the past 3 years, bringing the total number of members in the district to 15,123. In the period of 2021-2025, he organized health check-ups for 3,400 elderly people; gave gifts to 3,916 people; organized longevity celebrations for 7,982 people.

In particular, he always closely followed and encouraged cadres and members to contribute their intelligence, experience and prestige to participate in production labor, build the grassroots political system, mobilize descendants to implement clan conventions and build new rural areas. With his positive contributions to the movements, he helped the District Elderly Association continuously achieve the title of excellently completing its tasks for many consecutive years.

In Hoa Quy Ward (Ngu Hanh Son District), Mr. Ngo Van Hoa holds two positions: Chairman of the Farmers' Association and the Elderly Association of the Ward. In order to help students overcome difficulties and study well in the area, he mobilized cadres and members of 25 branches to raise piggy banks to save money. In 2024, he will spend nearly 11 million VND in savings to give to 20 primary school students (300,000 VND/student) and 4 secondary school students (1.2 million VND/student).

To this day, many local people still remember the image of Mr. Hoa and the association's officials diligently going to each house to provide necessities during the complicated development of Covid-19 at the end of July 2021. From 2023 to now, he has coordinated with medical units to examine 3,070 people for eye, lung, diabetes, and bone and joint diseases and give nearly 500 gifts to members in need.

In addition to her role as Vice President of the Hai Chau District Elderly Association, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoan My holds many positions in the residential area such as: participating in the Party Committee, promoting education, Red Cross, and charity. Over the past three years, she has supported the City Elderly Association in establishing and managing 30 Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs sponsored by the HAI organization, contributing to health care, mental health, and increasing income for the elderly.

At the same time, she actively propagated the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State to the people, contributing to stabilizing security and order in the area. From 2021 to present, she has organized visits and given gifts to nearly 2,000 disadvantaged elderly people, with a total cost of nearly 520 million VND; implemented periodic health check-ups for 3,000 members; organized longevity celebrations for more than 17,000 elderly people. In 2023, Ms. My was awarded a certificate of merit by the City People's Committee for her outstanding achievements in the "Old age - bright example" movement.

According to statistics, the city has more than 20,000 elderly people actively participating in building the grassroots political system, and are trusted to hold important responsibilities in the Party, government, front, mass organizations, associations, and security forces at the grassroots level. According to Thai Dinh Hoang, Vice President of the City Elderly Association, the elderly have promoted their experience, prestige, and responsibility, and actively contributed to patriotic emulation movements in localities.

In addition, the elderly contribute to preserving good customs and traditions of the family, contribute to connecting the community, are role models in production and business activities, maintain security and order at the grassroots level, and are a bright spot in the emulation movement "Old age - bright example".
