On weekends, many groups of visitors, mostly families with women and young children, don't mind traveling over 20km from the center of Dien Bien Phu city to visit the vineyard of Mr. Hoang Van Dan's family. Everyone is eager to tour, experience picking, and enjoy the first ripe grapes of the season right in the vineyard.

Entering the vineyard, visitors are greeted by clusters of ripening grapes, their berries plump and juicy; each cluster is large and hangs heavily on the vines, a delightful sight. Although the weather since the beginning of June has been rainy, leaving dust clinging to the grapes, it hasn't diminished their attractiveness and freshness. In the vineyard, visitors pose for photos, sharing them with friends and family on social media.

Ms. Lo Thi Quy, from Him Lam ward, Dien Bien Phu city, shared: “I’ve seen these images many times on social media, but today was the first time I experienced them firsthand. I was captivated by the scenery here; it was far more beautiful than I imagined. Before coming, I managed to rent two dresses to take photos with these bunches of grapes laden with fruit. It’s wonderful to have such satisfying photos to show off to everyone during a weekend trip.”

Reportedly, the vineyard is a "new product" of Mr. Hoang Van Dan's family. Previously, this area was known as the Muong Phang strawberry garden. The vineyard covers an area of 1,000 square meters with 500 black grapevines, currently yielding its first harvest after more than a year of care.

Mr. Hoang Van Dan, the owner of the vineyard, shared: “My family has had a strawberry farm for visitors to experience for years. But in 2023, with the support of seedlings from the Economic Department of Dien Bien Phu City, I decided to bring the black grape variety to plant experimentally. After much effort in caring for it, the vineyard has yielded the results we see today. Our grapes are grown organically, ensuring the criteria of being "clean". During the planting and care process, we always strictly adhere to techniques: cleaning the soil to avoid impurities; using organic fertilizers for the plants, and biological products to control pests and diseases... The black grape variety yields two harvests per year. One harvest in June, and one harvest during Tet (Lunar New Year). If planted and cared for well, it can yield harvests for 13-14 years.”

“Although the vineyard has only recently opened to visitors, we have already welcomed several hundred people. The first harvest alone yielded nearly 60kg of ripe grapes sold directly from the vineyard. We expect the second harvest to be in full bloom in about two weeks, with enough sugar to make them sweeter and more fragrant. We are confident that it will attract even more locals and tourists from within and outside the province to come and take photos, enjoy the grapes, and purchase our products,” said Mr. Hoang Van Dan.

The initial success of the agricultural tourism model being implemented by Mr. Hoang Van Dan's family will create more products for tourists visiting Muong Phang. The vineyard area is located right next to the road leading to the Dien Bien Phu Campaign Command Headquarters, making it very convenient for visitors to explore and experience. This model will open up a trend of "green tourism," agricultural tourism, and develop diverse tourism products in Dien Bien.
