Suphanat Mueanta is the most outstanding player of the Thai team at the AFF Cup 2024. The midfielder born in 2002 had a difficult tournament, even having to enter the field while sick to rescue the team of the Golden Temple country at a crucial moment.
In the second leg of the semi-final against the Philippines last night (December 30), coach Masatada Ishii did not include Suphanat Mueanta in the starting lineup. According to Siamsports, this player had a fever before the match. In the first leg, the one-time "child prodigy" of Thai football was also substituted early in the second half.

However, after Thailand was tied by the Philippines and dragged into extra time, coach Ishii was forced to send Suphanat Mueanta onto the field. The Thai team clearly did not want to have to take penalties.
Suphanat entered the field in the 98th minute to replace Weerathep Pomphan. In the 116th minute, midfielder number 10 headed in the decisive goal. Suphanat is only 1m73 tall but still chose the right position between 2 Philippine defenders to make the winning shot for the Thai team.
After the match, Suphanat was taken to the hospital for a medical check-up before leaving with the Thai team for Vietnam tonight (December 31). Suphanat and his teammates will play the first leg of the final at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho) at 8:00 p.m. on January 2.
Suphanat Mueanta still played outstandingly despite not being in the best shape at the AFF Cup 2024. This midfielder currently has 4 goals, equal to Nguyen Tien Linh and only 1 goal less than Nguyen Xuan Son - the leader of the race to the title of "top scorer" of the tournament.
Notably, during the AFF Cup 2024, Suphanat Mueanta had to return to serve the club. On December 18, right after the Thai team's 4-2 away win over Singapore, Suphanat was registered by Buriram United to play in the national cup.
Fortunately for the Thai team, Buriram United won this match easily. Suphanat Mueanta was only on the bench and did not enter the field. Therefore, his physical condition was not affected much.
