On August 28, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted held a festival to welcome 10th grade students.

After implementing the project to separate Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted according to the decision of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, this is the first year that 10th grade students of the school study at lot P2 of the 38.4ha resettlement area, An Khanh ward, Thu Duc city.

This was originally the second campus of the junior high school before being separated.

The move to a new facility has made many parents and students curious because this school is long-standing and famous for its quality of teaching and learning, and is considered a "school specializing in training valedictorians" in exams in Ho Chi Minh City.

At its old headquarters in Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, the school left its mark with its ancient architecture that is over 150 years old. In 2019, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted was recognized as a City-level architectural and artistic relic.

Exploring the new school after leaving the headquarters, Nguyen Truc Vy, a student of class 10CA5, shared that the facilities at the new headquarters of the school are quite spacious and are being invested in a modern direction.

"I am impressed with the school library which is designed as an open space, creating conditions for students to study well," Truc Vy confided.

The spacious space allows the school to organize many fun and experiential activities for students. On the day of welcoming 10th grade students, the school launched 25 clubs/projects divided into 4 groups: cultural group, skills - arts group, academic - information group, social science - project group.

After the introduction, students experience each club space to understand, know and from there confidently register to join the clubs they love.

Phan Bao Tran, a 10th grade English major student, excitedly said: "I always thought that going to a specialized school was just about studying. However, when I came to the festival, I didn't expect the school to have so many clubs and spaces to experience. This made me quite impressed."

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, homeroom teacher of the 10th grade English class, said that when he heard the news that the school would move to operate at the second campus, he was quite worried.

"I'm worried that if students go far away, their parents won't be interested in registering them for the school. Furthermore, in the past 9 years, the second facility has mainly been used to teach 6th and 7th graders," the teacher shared.

However, during the summer vacation, the Board of Directors promptly repaired, supplemented, and built new classrooms and a modern library to best serve the students.

"Therefore, up to this point I am very confident," said Mr. Tuan Anh.

Mr. Pham Thanh Yen, Vice Principal of Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, said that the school continues to upgrade many items to create an advanced and modern space and environment for students to study.

In particular, the festival to welcome 10th grade students is the beginning with the desire to create a happy and excited atmosphere for students before entering the new school year.

The school's leaders said that previously, the headquarters in Thu Duc city served teaching activities for secondary school students.

Currently, when operating a specialized school here, the first thing is to ensure the facilities and equipment meet the conditions for organizing specialized activities.

The school and parents have invested in organizing a number of items and projects such as: 4 laboratory practice rooms, library, smart classrooms, 3 spaces and sports equipment...

Regarding the teaching staff, when reorganizing, the number of teachers transferred to Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School will be implemented according to the roadmap and project of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. Each year, a certain number of teachers will be transferred to inter-level schools, entirely based on the personal wishes of the teachers.

The issue that many parents are concerned about is transportation and student care when moving to the new headquarters. The representative of the Board of Directors affirmed that the school still meets 100% of boarding needs and has a well-functioning student transportation system.
