Aung San Suu Kyi's house, located next to Inye Lake in Yangon, Myanmar, has been the site of many historic events. The two-story house and surrounding garden, measuring 7,782 square meters, are for sale with a starting price of 315 billion kyat, equivalent to 150 million USD at the official exchange rate, AFP reported.

According to Reuters, the house dates back to the time of Aung San Suu Kyi’s father, the founding hero of Myanmar. After he was assassinated in 1947, his wife, Khin Kyi, managed it and later handed it over to their children.
Aung San Oo, Suu Kyi’s younger brother, sued in 2000 for a share of the property. In 2016, the court ordered the land to be divided equally among the siblings.

Mr. San Oo then sued several times to auction off and divide the property between him and Ms. Suu Kyi. After the coup in Myanmar in 2021, the Supreme Court agreed to Mr. San Oo's request to auction the house.
A witness told Reuters that no one had come to bid on March 20.
Auction officials read notices in front of the house on March 20.
Aung San Suu Kyi lived in this house for most of her more than 30 years in Myanmar after returning from Britain, including 15 years under house arrest. After her release in 2010, she continued to live there for a while before moving to the capital Naypyitaw until the coup.
Aung San Suu Kyi received then US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at her home in Yangon in 2011.
The house in Yangon is where Ms Suu Kyi gave speeches to supporters while under house arrest and where she met famous figures such as former US President Barack Obama and former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton when both were in office.
Aung San Suu Kyi is serving a 27-year prison sentence at an undisclosed location for multiple charges.
