Secretary of State Blinken conveyed President Joe Biden's condolences to Mrs. Ngo Thi Man and family on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Secretary of State Blinken emphasized that US government leaders and officials, as well as President Biden personally, always consider General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong a friend and trusted partner.
With the vision and leadership of the General Secretary, the friendship and relationship between the two countries have been nurtured and developed strongly, reaching the highest level of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership as it is today.
Emphasizing that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a role model in healing the relationship between the two countries as well as a person who contributed to building a bridge between the two peoples, Secretary of State Blinken affirmed that President Biden, the US Government and people will always remember and honor the legacy of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong with good feelings and memories of a person who created historical marks for the good cooperative relationship between the two countries.
On behalf of the family, Mrs. Ngo Thi Man expressed her emotion at the good feelings that the US side, President Biden personally and Secretary of State Blinken had for the General Secretary.
The First Lady shared that while he was alive, the General Secretary paid attention to and nurtured the Vietnam-US relationship. He and President Biden issued a Joint Statement upgrading the Vietnam-US relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in September 2023.
The Lady believes that the two sides will continue to effectively implement the Vietnam-US Joint Statement of September 2023 to promote and develop the bilateral cooperative relationship into a better, more substantive and deeper one.
On this occasion, Mrs. Ngo Thi Man sent her sincere thanks and best wishes to President Biden, his wife and family.
