"The United States expresses its sincere condolences to the people of Vietnam suffering the consequences of Typhoon Yagi," said US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, according to official information from the US State Department website. Mr. Blinken reiterated the previous announcement of the US Mission to Vietnam that the US Agency for International Development (USAID) is providing humanitarian assistance to support Vietnam's efforts to overcome the consequences of the storm, including financial aid, tents, drinking water and sanitation equipment, as well as other necessary items. Emphasizing that with heavy rain forecast in the coming days, Mr. Blinken said that USAID disaster experts will continue to coordinate closely with local emergency response agencies and partners. "The United States will continue to work with other partners, including through the Quad, to support the people of Vietnam during this difficult time," the statement said. In addition, US Secretary of State Blinken also expressed sympathy for the loss of life and property caused by Typhoon Yagi in other countries, including China, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, and the Philippines, affirming his readiness to support areas in need. Earlier on September 11, a statement by US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper said that in the face of catastrophic damage caused by Typhoon Yagi, the US Government, through USAID, would provide $1 million in emergency assistance for Vietnam's response efforts after Typhoon Yagi.
