On August 24, Iran's new Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi held a phone call with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan to discuss bilateral relations and the regional situation.

According to a statement from Iran's Foreign Ministry, during the phone call, Mr. Araghchi pointed out that Israel's "terrorist acts" in the West Asia region were aimed at escalating tensions and spreading instability to other locations in the region, and described the current regional situation as "more serious."
Iran's top diplomat stressed the need to continue consultations between Muslim countries, especially two "important" countries in the region, Iran and Türkiye, to resolve urgent issues.
The Iranian foreign minister also highlighted the role of improving bilateral relations, expressing Tehran's readiness to promote "constructive" dialogue with Ankara, to expand bilateral cooperation in all areas.
For his part, Mr. Fidan congratulated Mr. Araghchi on his appointment as Iranian Foreign Minister, and expressed Türkiye's preparedness for bilateral discussions, cooperation on important regional issues and international developments, as well as political consultations aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries.
Earlier, in a phone call on July 2, Iran's acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani and Türkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan warned of the consequences of Israel's prolonged attacks on the Gaza Strip and the possibility of an attack on Lebanon.
