Foreign Minister Park Jin stressed that the Yoon Suk Yeol administration believes in the good prospects for relations between Seoul and Beijing based on mutual respect and mutual benefit.
Park Jin made the announcement amid the heated up of Korea-China relations following controversial remarks by Chinese Ambassador to Korea Xing Haiming last week. The Korean government then sternly warned Xing Haiming and affirmed that the Chinese Ambassador would be held fully responsible for any negative consequences that may arise in the future.
On the same day, Chairman of South Korea's main opposition Democratic Party (DP), Lee Jae Myung, also expressed concern about the country's rapidly deteriorating relations with Russia and China.
Speaking at an event marking the 23rd anniversary of the first inter-Korean summit, Lee Jae Myung said South Korea's economic and security interests would suffer if it did not maintain good relations with Beijing and Moscow.
South Korea-Russia relations also saw some friction, after President Yoon Suk Yeol proposed changing the country's policy, which had previously only provided non-lethal aid to Ukraine.
