Previously, in April 2024, Hoi An City Party Committee submitted a document to the Provincial Party Standing Committee to request a policy to build Hoi An into a foreign affairs center of Quang Nam province.

According to the Hoi An City Party Committee, Hoi An is considered the tourist center of Quang Nam, and at the same time one of the attractive destinations in Vietnam.

In recent years, Hoi An has been chosen as the place to welcome heads of state, high-ranking delegations, diplomatic corps, and embassies of countries to visit and work, and to organize many modern festivals, political, cultural and tourism events of regional, national, and international scale.

However, in reality, Hoi An still has some aspects that do not meet the requirements for reception, working, and banqueting locations, leading to the failure to ensure diplomatic protocol standards; the reception force is still limited in terms of expertise, professionalism, and skills; the budget for foreign affairs is still limited...

Therefore, if the policy is agreed upon, the Standing Committee of Hoi An City Party Committee will direct the People's Committee of Hoi An City to proactively coordinate with the provincial departments and branches to advise on a specific project to report to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee on this issue.

Recently, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee also assigned the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to research and report to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee on this issue; the report content will be sent to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee before May 15, 2024.
