During this meaningful visit, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai visited the house of Vietnamese Heroic Mother Duong Thi Thanh (96 years old), in Ward 2, Tan Nghia town. The Vice Chairman kindly asked about her health, expressing his joy at seeing Heroic Mother Duong Thi Thanh, despite her old age, still healthy, gathering with her children and grandchildren in a spacious, airy house. "Is Mom eating normally?", Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai looked up and asked his daughter standing behind her. "Every meal, Mom still eats a bowl of rice, soup, vegetables and fruits regularly; sometimes she eats two small bowls; in the evening she drinks milk, her health is still stable", the daughter happily replied. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee kindly came to Thanh's mother to ask about her hometown, and presented her with a gift from the province; Thanh's mother smiled toothlessly, nodding her head in gratitude to the leaders of the province and district. The older daughter standing next to her mother spoke on her behalf: “My mother is old and has lost a lot of her hearing. On behalf of the family, I would like to sincerely thank the provincial and Ham Tan District Party Committee leaders for visiting and giving gifts to my family on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of national reunification.”

In his mother’s house, Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai shared and asked about the illness of Mr. Nguyen Van Cuc (son of martyr Nguyen Choi – husband of Heroic Mother Duong Thi Thanh) who is suffering from severe pneumonia and is being treated. The Vice Chairman of the province gave gifts to the family, encouraging Mr. Nguyen Van Cuc to rest assured to get treatment and overcome his illness.

As well as during the visit to Heroic Vietnamese Mother Duong Thi Thanh, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee shared his joy when visiting Mr. Nguyen Van Hung (90 years old), a 45% disabled veteran in Lang Gon 1 village, Tan Xuan commune, Ham Tan. Despite his old age, Mr. Hung is still healthy, clear-headed, and happily talking with the provincial leadership delegation. Mr. Nguyen Van Hung said: “I am now 40 years old in the Party. After peace was restored, I was discharged from the army and participated in the leadership work of the commune, the Veterans Association of Tan Xuan commune for a while, and have retired for a long time. Now I am very proud of the socio-economic development of the province in general, and Ham Tan district in particular, after 50 years of national reunification; especially in terms of infrastructure, electricity, roads, schools, and stations, which have changed the face of my hometown to become more and more prosperous. The upcoming merger of the province will create conditions to exploit the potential and advantages of Binh Thuan, according to the long-term strategic vision that the Central Government has oriented for merged localities nationwide”. Meanwhile, the representative of the provincial leadership, Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai expressed his deep gratitude for the sacrifices and contributions of Heroic Mothers of Vietnam, war invalids, and families of martyrs who contributed to the entire people and army in the resistance war against the US to save the country until the day of complete victory and national reunification; requested the Party Committee and local authorities to pay more attention to the families of war invalids and martyrs. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee presented gifts from the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to policy beneficiaries in Ham Tan; hoping that policy families would continue to educate their children and grandchildren to promote revolutionary traditions, develop family economy, and contribute to building an increasingly prosperous homeland. At the same time, Mr. Nguyen Tan Le, Secretary of the Ham Tan District Party Committee, also sent small gifts from the district to those with meritorious services and relatives of martyrs.

Through research, we learned that on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), Ham Tan district established 5 delegations led by leaders of the District Party Committee and People's Committee to visit and present gifts to 50 families with revolutionary contributions, including Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the Armed Forces, families of martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers; with a total cost of more than 57 million VND. This is a meaningful work showing the "When drinking water, remember its source" sentiment of the local Party Committee and government.
