In the picture of specialty agricultural development of Nghia Lo town, Nghia Lo commune stands out as a bright spot. With 65% of households directly participating in agricultural production, the commune has proactively re-planned production towards commodities, especially focusing on fruit trees with high economic value and tea trees.

Ms. Vu Thi Thanh - Chairman of Nghia Lo Commune People's Committee, shared: "To change the traditional, small-scale farming habits, we have developed a plan and re-planned production towards commodities, focusing on developing strong fruit trees such as oranges, grapefruits, longans, mangoes, plums, dragon fruits and tea trees. We also encourage people to plant new and transform fruit trees in a safe direction to increase productivity and create stable output."

To realize this goal, the commune has established 33 cooperatives to produce clean and safe agricultural products with the participation of 165 members, creating a collective strength in production and consumption. Thanks to that, each year the commune supplies the market with over 600 tons of fresh fruit, bringing in an impressive revenue of over 12 billion VND. Notably, many households have earned an income of 500 to 800 million VND per year thanks to growing fruit trees, showing clear economic efficiency from this direction.

Ms. Thanh added: "We also focus resources on building infrastructure to serve production, and at the same time establish joint groups to promote and develop local specialties, helping to increase stable income for people."

Not only focusing on the field of cultivation, Nghia Lo town also focuses on the field of agricultural processing. In Nghia An commune, products such as dried buffalo meat and dried pork are processed by traditional manual methods, with the typical flavor of this land, and have become specialties loved by many people. Currently, the whole commune has 5 households producing these products with a total output of more than 10 tons supplied to the market each year, contributing to creating a stable source of income for the people.

With continuous efforts, Nghia Lo has achieved outstanding results in the new rural construction program. Up to now, 10/10 communes of the town have met the new rural standards, of which 2 communes have met the advanced new rural standards and 27 villages have met the model new rural standards. In parallel, Nghia Lo also has 24 products that have achieved OCOP certification with 21 products achieving 3 stars and 3 products achieving 4 stars, affirming the quality and brand of local agricultural products. To facilitate people to develop production, Nghia Lo town has implemented many practical support policies, including technical support for cultivation, encouraging the application of technology in production according to VietGAP and organic standards, and strengthening product consumption links through building value chains and signing consumption contracts with businesses and supermarkets in and outside the province.

According to Mr. Vu Duc Trung - Vice Chairman of the Town People's Committee, the town government has had many support policies such as linking product consumption, building cooperatives and cooperatives to help people produce according to the value chain, signing contracts to consume products with businesses, supermarkets in the province and neighboring localities... In addition, the town also actively organizes fairs, participates in the OCOP program and puts products on e-commerce platforms, connecting with major distribution channels. Notably, recently, the Department of Industry and Trade of Yen Bai organized the Online Shopping Day program and displayed and introduced OCOP products in Nghia Lo, creating opportunities to widely promote local specialty products.

Aiming for a sustainable development future, Nghia Lo is building a model combining agricultural production and experiential tourism.
