On the afternoon of March 18, artist Van Dung attended the press conference to launch the film “Nguoi mot nha”. Returning to the small screen after 2 years, Van Dung plays the role of Mrs. Thu - a greedy mother, willing to abandon her twin children (played by Tuan Tu and Duy Hung) to pursue her own life. Sharing about her new role, artist Van Dung said that this was the first time she was beaten on screen.
In the film, Mrs. Thu is subjected to domestic violence by her husband, Mr. Dong (Meritorious Artist Quoc Trong). Van Dung shared: "In my whole life, I have watched many movies or seen fights on the street, but I have never been in that situation. This is the first time in my life I have acted in a fighting scene. Before that, I had only beaten people and had never been beaten."
"The first time I was beaten in my life, I don't know why I couldn't breathe, my heart was pounding. I had to film 6 takes for wide shots and close-ups. Every time I finished filming, I was extremely tired. I was only beaten a little bit, but I was scared for 2 days. I was very scared when I saw the fighting scene. It was the first time in my life that I was beaten, because before when filming skits, I was only used to beating people. I was really scared even though Mr. Trong was just pretending to beat me. If there is a next time, I won't dare to beat people again because I'm old and getting older," she said.
This role of Van Dung also promises to receive as many "bricks and stones" from the audience as the role of Mrs. Diem Loan in "Sunflower Against the Sun" 2 years ago. The female artist shared: "In the past 30 years, I have been loved by the audience when playing Tao Quan, performing comedy in galas and skits. But with "Sunflower Against the Sun", from the beginning to the end of the film, I only received bricks and stones. In the end, I had to ask the director to let me "go back to shore", I suffered so much (laughs)".
Van Dung shared a memory from the time she was filming "Sunflower Against the Sun". When she entered a restaurant, an audience member recognized her and talked for more than an hour about Van Dung's hateful role.
“She asked me, 'Why did you play such a cheap role, making the image of women so ugly? You are famous, beautiful, and talented, why did you play such a hateful role? I have loved you so much before, but now I despise you so much. You should think again, next time the director invites you, refuse those roles. You are a star, you have the right to refuse, why do you have to rush into those roles?'
I just explained that every movie has good and bad people. If the movie has no conflict, no turmoil, how can the audience be interested? I accept being on the evil side so that the other actors can be on the good side. If everyone refuses to play the evil role, how can there be any good movies for the audience to watch?
Artist Van Dung said that the screenwriter can give her any role, even a bad one, but in the end, let her "go back to shore" so that the audience can hate and then love her like "Sunflower Against the Sun".
In addition to Van Dung, the film “Nguoi mot nha” also brings together a cast of talented actors including Thanh Huong, Duy Hung, Tuan Tu, Ha Viet Dung… With attractive content, the film promises to bring the audience a stormy but also warm and emotional family story at 9:40 p.m. every Thursday and Friday, starting from March 21.
