(Dan Tri) - On the evening of March 6, at the Hanoi Opera House, the concert "Cinema Music" by the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) took place under the direction of conductor Honna Tetsuji.
This is the opening concert of the 2025-2026 season of VNSO. Participating in the program, the 2023 National Chamber Music First Prize winner, Nguyen Ha My, created an interesting highlight when performing the work Cinema paradiso with cellist Le Phan Nhu Quynh.

Cinema Paradiso is a very good and famous film soundtrack with orchestral accompaniment. This work is closer in form to a semi-classical song than a romance or classical aria and Ha My had to perform without a microphone with the orchestra.
With a full, powerful yet emotional soprano voice, Ha My has excellently performed this beautiful lyrical melody, evoking a feeling of distant nostalgia, going straight into the listener's heart from the first notes and lyrics...
Her sublime performance brought endless applause in the Hanoi Opera House auditorium.
"My biggest challenge was how to find a balance in my singing style to convey the romantic beauty of the song in a natural, intimate way while still ensuring the sound elements of a classical performance with an orchestra in a theater space," Ha My shared about her performance after the concert ended.
Joining Ha My in the performance Cinema Paradiso is cellist Le Phan Nhu Quynh. Ha My shared that the soulful cello solo in the opening of the piece not only leads the audience into the romantic and visual space of the song but also guides the emotions of the singer herself.
She said: "Cello is a musical instrument with a sound close to singing. I really feel that Quynh is singing with me - a warm and emotional voice. I have also had the opportunity to work with Quynh in some previous programs and I am very happy to perform solo with her again in a big program like Cinema Music".
Cinema Music is also the concert marking the first time Ha My sings with VNSO and conductor Honna Tetsuji.
The female singer added: "I have been lucky enough to work with conductor Honna Tetsuji a few times and have also been guided and instructed by him, but have never had the opportunity to officially perform with him and the VNSO.
Perhaps classical singers like me are waiting for such an opportunity. Therefore, when I received the invitation from Mr. Trinh Tung Linh - Director of VNSO, I was very happy and excited.
Although I only contributed a small part to the program, this performance was really meaningful to me, as I was introduced to music lovers at the Opera House with VNSO and conductor Honna Tetsuji.
Even though I had prepared very carefully and was very confident, I still couldn't help but feel nervous and worried. I hope my performance will satisfy the audience and they will accept a very new face like me."

Talking about her upcoming musical path, Ha My confided: "Right now, I need to focus all my efforts to soon complete my master's degree in Vocal Music.
I also plan to release a revolutionary music album in a dense chamber music style this year. In addition, as a classical singer, I still need to accumulate more plays to expand my limits.
I am studying Richard Strauss's Four Last Songs and some roles in late Verdi operas - repertoire that suits my voice. I hope to introduce these works to classical music lovers in concerts later this year."
Singer Nguyen Ha My was born in 1993 in Hoai Duc, Hanoi. She graduated from the National Academy of Music with a perfect score of 10. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in music performance under the direct guidance of People's Artist Quoc Hung.
