Artist Le Thuy receives the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 Dao Tan Award

Singer Dinh Tri, son of artist Le Thuy, also received the award for Outstanding Program Creator.

Le Thuy was moved because the Northern audience still wanted to hear her sing.

Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , artist Le Thuy said that a few weeks ago the program's organizers announced that they would invite her to Hanoi to receive the award.

She said: “I was surprised and touched. I have received many awards but I did not expect that the organizers and the audience in faraway Hanoi would still notice, care about and give me this award.”

Artist Le Thuy just went to Australia for family matters, and after only one day back in Vietnam, she flew to Hanoi to receive the award.

She confided that after 1975, she had the opportunity to go to Hanoi to sing for the Party Congress several times with the plays The Durian Tree Blossoms, Crystals and Dust ...

Once she performed the entire play To Anh Nguyet , a play that brought tears to many Northern audiences.

“In recent years, the cai luong stage has been difficult, and I am also getting old, so for many years I have not had the opportunity to go to Hanoi or the North to perform a full play. Occasionally, I participate in a few separate acts in shows organized by Kim Tu Long,” said Le Thuy.

However, she was very touched when many people on the street recognized her, asked her questions enthusiastically and asked to take pictures with her.

Several times she took a taxi and heard the driver playing traditional music. She asked who he liked to sing. The driver smiled and said he liked Minh Vuong - Le Thuy.

Le Thuy is always worthy of the words "lifelong dedication"

Entering the Cai Luong village at the age of 13 or 14, by the age of 16 or 17, Le Thuy had become a leading actress with a sincere, emotional voice, like the clear sound of a bell, conquering millions of Cai Luong lovers.

She has had countless memorable roles. She was the first person that composer Vien Chau trusted to write the song Who are you? to start the trend of neoclassical love songs.

When talking about outstanding cai luong artists, the audience cannot help but mention the name Le Thuy.

Many later generations of cai luong artists expressed that they were fascinated by Le Thuy's voice and from then on wanted to pursue a career in cai luong.

Once, a reporter interviewed artist Hoang Quynh Mai, deputy director of the Vietnam Opera House. She did not hesitate to confess that the singer she idolized and was influenced by from the very beginning was Le Thuy.

Not only is she persistent in her artistic activities, artist Le Thuy is also an active participant in charity work.

She and Minh Vuong once established the Golden Stage to perform and earn revenue to build charity houses for the poor. Every year, she donates money to charity to take care of poor patients, mentally ill patients, and homeless children.

As an artist, she also helps many artists, workers, and backstage workers in difficulty.

Le Thuy said that after the awards ceremony on the evening of September 22, she and a travel company will go to Lao Cai, Cao Bang, Lang Son provinces... to give gifts to people affected by storms and floods.
