Many schools train livestream

Implementing digital transformation as well as the desire to have more customers, currently, in addition to direct sales, many businesses, brands, and stores have deployed online sales on social networking platforms such as TikTok, Facebook... Therefore, to meet the new business trend, businesses, brands, and stores have the need to recruit many young people to livestream to sell products. Grasping this need, young people, including students, have tried their hand at the new profession of livestreaming with attractive income and flexible working hours.

For example, Nguyen Duy Nam, a third-year student majoring in Cultural Development at the Academy of Journalism and Communication, has been working as a livestreamer for more than 4 months. The income from his livestreaming and MC work has helped the third-year student pay for rent, food, and personal items.

“Before doing livestream, I was trained by the owner for 1 week on product knowledge and necessary skills for this job. When I first started my livestream trial, I was paid 60,000 VND/hour. After finishing my livestream trial, the salary will increase to 80,000 - 100,000 VND/hour, much higher than working as a coffee shop employee.

Before, I livestreamed 5-6 hours a day; but now I do it 2-3 hours in my free time, earning 5-7 million VND/month. I am pursuing a career as a program host, so livestreaming helps me earn income and understand customers' psychology, know what they need to have appropriate responses to situations" - Nguyen Duy Nam shared.

Faced with the rapid development of the e-commerce industry and the trend of approaching customers directly through livestream, some schools such as FPT Polytechnic College, Hanoi College of High Technology, Hanoi College of Commerce and Tourism, Hanoi Polytechnic Vocational College... have opened an e-commerce training program including livestream sales.

At FPT Polytechnic College, livestream sales have been taught since 2017 through specialized activities, direct exchanges with speakers with knowledge and experience in this field as well as integrated into the training program afterwards.

Vice Principal of FPT Polytechnic Tran Van Nam shared that teaching livestream sales helps students better understand how to use technology to do business and approach the market effectively; at the same time, it also creates opportunities for students to practice and develop important skills such as communication, presentation and time management in practice. Incorporating livestream sales into teaching also helps students prepare for new technology trends and have more opportunities in this field.

Many factors are needed for success

2024 is the fourth year that Hanoi College of Commerce and Tourism has trained in E-commerce, including livestreaming online sales. Sharing about the job of livestreaming online sales, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Head of E-commerce at Hanoi College of Commerce and Tourism, said: "Currently, livestreaming is exploding because it is encouraged and pushed by social networks to their platforms. Livestreaming is not an easy profession as people imagine, just standing in front of the camera and talking. And, to livestream effectively and successfully, not everyone can do it."

To be successful in the livestreaming profession, the person doing it needs to possess a number of necessary skills and qualities. First of all, the livestreamer must have a deep understanding of the content or product being advertised - this is an important factor in conveying the message accurately and attractively about this item. The livestreamer must know how to manage time to organize content effectively within the fixed time frame of each online sales session. In addition, the livestreamer needs to have communication skills in terms of language and style of expression to attract and retain customers. In addition, qualities such as confidence, creativity and flexibility; the most important thing is the passion to conquer customers on the livestream platform.

To do a livestream, there must be a lot of preparation behind the scenes such as building a livestream script; setting up sound and lighting; livestream techniques.

In addition, livestreamers must also have skills that need to be trained such as handling situations, selling, setting up ads to sell more products... Livestreamers must also learn how to post products, build sales channels. In addition, you must know how to build channels, manage content, manage products, operate the platform... All of these factors converge in a livestream to be successful.

Therefore, to be successful in livestreaming, people working in this profession need to be properly trained in the necessary knowledge and skills. FPT Polytechnic College conducts livestreaming training through a comprehensive and practical design module to ensure that students are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in this field.

Accordingly, students will learn modules on multi-channel sales skills on digital platforms; multi-channel sales planning skills on digital platforms; livestream policies, understanding violations of community standards; standards in voice and communication language.

In addition, students practice sales skills via livestream and e-commerce channels; practice handling questions when livestreaming and selling on digital platforms; practice closing orders on livestream.

Students who learn livestreaming are also organized by the school to practice sales reports such as: coming up with multi-channel sales ideas on digital platforms; methods to find suitable product suppliers. Along with that is practicing planning to approach customers; setting up sales channels on digital platforms, setting sales targets; 10 steps to professional sales on livestream on digital platforms.

Students also practice livestreaming on TikTok and Facebook; practice actual sales; report sales results on digital platforms. And a special feature of livestreaming training at FPT Polytechnic College is to create an in-depth and practical learning environment, thereby helping students to immediately apply the knowledge and skills learned to their future work.

In addition to activities to support students in developing livestream expertise, FPT Polytechnic College also encourages students to participate in research and product development projects related to livestream sales. All of these activities aim to help students develop and master their profession, thereby opening up many career opportunities in the future.

Livestreamers are paid based on the hours they sell online. Businesses will apply the basic Key Performance Indicator (KPI) and calculate hourly wages currently applied in the market. However, there is also a form of salary payment based on the revenue of the livestream session.

Accordingly, the livestreamer will receive a salary based on the number of products and revenue of that livestream, which can be much higher than the hourly wage.
