On the afternoon of March 28, in Vinh city, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nghe An organized a dialogue conference with tourism service businesses in the province.

In 2024, Nghe An tourism achieved many remarkable results. The province welcomed 9.45 million visitors, of which 5.93 million were overnight visitors and 120,500 were international visitors. Total tourism revenue reached VND 28,569 billion, of which tourism revenue reached VND 11,160 billion. However, Nghe An tourism industry still faces many challenges such as lack of typical tourism products, low rate of international visitors, weak human resources, lack of large investors and insufficient tourism development support policies.
At the conference, most businesses said that Nghe An tourism still lacks unique features, tourism products are monotonous, and have not created a difference compared to other localities. Some suggested focusing on investing in eco-tourism areas, community tourism, and better exploiting local cultural values.

Tourism infrastructure issues also received great attention. Businesses reported on inconvenient traffic conditions in many tourist areas and spots, lack of a system of wharves serving waterway tourism, as well as the need for more large-scale entertainment areas to extend the length of stay of tourists.

Tourism human resources are also a challenge when the current labor force is not sufficient in both quantity and quality. Many opinions say that there should be more in-depth training programs, especially for international tour guides and high-end service personnel. At the same time, policies to support businesses in recruiting and training human resources also need to be improved.
In addition, businesses also recommended that state management agencies continue to improve administrative procedures, creating more favorable conditions for tourism business activities. Some proposals include simplifying travel licensing procedures, improving tax and land policies for tourism businesses, as well as enhancing programs to promote and advertise Nghe An tourism on digital platforms and international markets.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Tran Thi My Hanh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Director of the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism acknowledged the enthusiastic and frank opinions of businesses on the advantages, difficulties and challenges of Nghe An tourism industry, and said that she will direct relevant units to advise on policies to support businesses, report to the Provincial People's Committee to direct the removal of difficulties for each field, focusing on some issues such as supporting procedures to bring international visitors to the area, building policies to support tourism businesses in promotion, advertising, training human resources, etc.

Comrade Tran Thi My Hanh also suggested that the Tourism Association should promote its role as a bridge between businesses and management agencies, mobilize members to participate in common activities, and coordinate in building new tourism products such as cruises on the Lam River or experiential tourism in the Western region of Nghe An. Accommodation, travel, and tourism service businesses need to cooperate closely, have preferential policies on service prices for travel businesses, participate in events, training courses, and support welcoming famtrip and presstrip groups. Accommodation establishments need to improve service quality, ensure security, and prevent and fight fires.
The Department's leaders pledged to continue accompanying businesses, with the determination to achieve the goal of making tourism a key economic sector by 2030.
