Exports continue to record growth momentum
In 2023, the world situation continued to fluctuate in a complex and unpredictable manner, affecting production, business, import and export activities. In that context, under the drastic, timely, flexible and effective direction and management of the Provincial People's Committee, together with the efforts of the entire political system, people and businesses, the province's export activities in 2023 continued to record growth compared to 2022.
Total export turnover in 2023 reached 3.1 billion USD, up 22.3% over the previous year, exceeding the annual plan by 8.2%; of which, goods export turnover reached 2.44 billion USD, up 11.67% over 2022, reaching 97.8% of the annual plan.

In 2023, many items will have good export growth. Notably, the proportion of processed exported goods will continue to increase, especially construction materials, minerals, processed seafood and some processed agricultural products such as processed fruit juice. The proportion of processed goods is estimated to increase by 8.17% compared to 2022.

In 2023, Nghe An enterprises exported goods to over 152 countries and territories around the world, an increase of 19 markets compared to 2022. There were 396 enterprises participating in exporting goods of Nghe An province.
Besides, there are some OCOP products of the province participating in export such as: Bien Quynh seafood (exported to the US), Van Phan fish sauce (exported to Japan), eel,...

Export promotion support activities are implemented regularly, diversely and initially effective.
Removing difficulties for businesses
Although exports in 2023 have grown, they are not really stable and the efficiency is not high. The value-added content of exported goods is still low, the rate of localization in goods enjoying preferential tariffs is still limited; Although export products are diverse, the scale is still small. Many products still depend on sources of goods from other provinces and foreign markets (such as cassava starch, pepper, wood products, etc.). Many export products face difficulties, and export turnover decreases compared to the same period last year.

The conference attracted many frank and enthusiastic discussions from businesses and sectors to remove difficulties for businesses and promote the province's export activities in the coming time.
In particular, the issue of logistics continues to be the subject of many businesses. Many delegates believe that logistics is an indispensable issue in export activities, but businesses in Nghe An are having to bear high costs, leading to difficulty in competing.
Mr. Ngo Van Thanh - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hoang Thi Loan Textile Joint Stock Company said: Nghe An is a province with strengths in developing industrial production, but the logistics problem is inadequate, goods must be moved to Hai Phong Port, causing high costs. "If goods go out but there are no goods coming back, no shipping line can do it. Therefore, it is necessary to have regional links with enterprises in Ha Tinh and Thanh Hoa to create a flow of goods, increase frequency and capacity to help Cua Lo Port develop, helping enterprises reduce transportation costs", Mr. Thanh suggested.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung - Director of Asia Hoa Son Joint Stock Company said that raw materials play a very important role in production and export activities. However, the enterprise is currently facing the problem of raw material shortage and being competed by traders. Currently, raw materials only meet 30-40% of capacity. The province needs to have solutions to protect enterprises that have been granted investment licenses, only then will they dare to invest in processing technology.
Many textile, rattan, bamboo and knitting export enterprises... shared difficulties due to labor shortage, affecting production; land lease issues, policies to support enterprises in trade promotion activities. Inadequacies in goods inspection procedures, mineral rights fees... were also reported by many enterprises in Quy Hop and Tan Ky.
Concerns of enterprises have been answered and discussed specifically by representatives of relevant departments, Nghe An Tax Department, Nghe An Customs Department.

After listening to the opinions of the delegates and giving a speech at the conference, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the political system and the business community in import and export activities. 2024 is an important year in promoting the implementation and striving to complete the goals of the 5-year socio-economic development plan (2021-2025) and the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress.
To complete the export turnover target in 2024, it is necessary to effectively utilize free trade agreements to expand markets and promote the export of the province's key products. It is recommended that departments, branches, districts, cities, towns and related enterprises continue to synchronously implement basic solutions on developing export goods sources, supporting export promotion, improving the competitiveness of logistics services, strengthening state management of import and export activities, etc.

Continue to closely coordinate with Vietnam's trade offices abroad to grasp market information and emerging issues affecting Vietnam's exports to have timely response solutions... Organize propaganda about import and export activities, international integration, border trade to businesses and people, especially training on effective application of rules of origin and how to meet rules of origin to help businesses grasp the opportunities opened up by FTAs. Organize training and education for businesses on market access operations, new regulations of countries... so that businesses can clearly understand and apply them appropriately.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also discussed the enterprises' recommendations in detail. At the same time, he assigned relevant departments and branches to continue to remove difficulties, accompany enterprises, and promote export development.
On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 9 enterprises with many achievements in export activities.
