Việt NamViệt Nam17/02/2024

* On the morning of February 17th, Comrade Tran Hong Ha - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Prime Minister - inspected the progress of key national transportation and energy projects in Nghe An.

This morning, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and the government delegation directly inspected the construction site of the foundation for tower 345 of the 500kV Quang Trach - Quynh Luu power line project in Nam Thanh commune, Nam Dan district.

Acknowledging the spirit of "only talking about work, not backing down"; "overcoming the sun and rain"; "eating quickly, sleeping urgently"; "working 3 shifts, 4 teams"; "working throughout holidays and Tet", the Deputy Prime Minister noted that the National Power Transmission Corporation, in addition to focusing on deploying its own workforce to implement the project, needs to coordinate with local authorities to mobilize local labor to participate in simple tasks, thereby ensuring project progress while creating jobs for local people.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and the delegation also inspected the progress of the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway project, part of the North-South Eastern Expressway Project.

This is a highway project with a total length of 49.3km, starting at the intersection with National Highway 7 in Dien Chau district (Nghe An province) and ending behind the intersection with National Highway 8A in Duc Tho district (Ha Tinh province). This highway is being implemented under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, specifically a BOT contract, with a total investment of 13,338 billion VND.

* In the afternoon of the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha held a working session with the leaders of three provinces: Nghe An, Ha Tinh, and Quang Binh, regarding the implementation of key national projects.

The meeting focused primarily on two key national projects: the 500kV circuit 3 transmission line project from Quang Trach to Pho Noi and the North-South Expressway Eastern section from Dien Chau to Bai Vot.

The 500kV circuit 3 transmission line project, section from Quang Trach to Pho Noi, passes through 9 provinces: Quang Binh, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Hai Duong, and Hung Yen, with a total length of approximately 519 km and a total investment of over 22,356 billion VND. According to the Prime Minister's directive, by February 15, 2024, the provinces were required to hand over the land for 1,180 out of 1,180 foundation locations. However, as of February 15, 2024, 64 out of 1,180 foundation locations had still not been handed over.

For Nghe An province, the Eastern North-South Expressway project, specifically the Dien Chau - Bai Vot section, spans 44.46 km. Currently, land clearance for the Dien Chau - Bai Vot section within Nghe An province has reached 100%. However, some issues and obstacles remain, particularly regarding the connection point at the intersection with National Highway 46B and the rest stop management office in Hung Nguyen district.

* In the early days of the Lunar New Year of the Dragon 2024, with favorable weather, dozens of fishing boats from coastal localities of Hoang Mai town happily returned from their fishing trips, bringing back boats full of shrimp and fish.

* After the Lunar New Year, in local markets, green vegetables are maintaining high prices, with traders buying them directly from the fields. As a result, farmers in the growing regions are enthusiastically staying in their fields to tend and harvest.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien (Dai Dong village, Quynh Lien commune, Hoang Mai town) happily said: "After Tet, the price of chayote remains high, fluctuating between 7,000-8,000 VND/kg, so we are focusing on harvesting to supply the market."

* After two years of implementation at the high school level, the new curriculum and changes in examination methods have significantly altered how students choose their subjects and exam subjects. The challenge is to quickly adjust to adapt to university entrance exams under the new curriculum.

The incident involving over 62 workers suffering from pneumoconiosis at Chau Tien Limited Liability Company has revealed many shortcomings and loopholes. In particular, the inspection, monitoring, and supervision of occupational safety and hygiene have been lacking in thoroughness, failing to detect violations or not handling them strictly enough.

The working group of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has just released a report on the results of its inspection after directly working at Chau Tien Limited Company and relevant authorities regarding the case of 62 workers suffering from pneumoconiosis.
