National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue presented meaningful Tet gifts to policy families, people with revolutionary contributions, and families in difficult circumstances in the area.
Speaking at the program, Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung emphasized that taking care of Tet for poor households, near-poor households, and households in difficult circumstances is a task that the entire political system of Nghe An province, organizations, individuals, and businesses are interested in.
In Nghe An province, there are still more than 45,000 poor households (accounting for nearly 5.2%) and over 50,000 near-poor households (accounting for 5.7%) in dire need of the whole society's support.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung said that social security work has received attention from the Party Committee and government, and has received active contributions and support from agencies, units, businesses, entrepreneurs, philanthropists and people.
In particular, through the program to mobilize support, build and repair houses for the poor and people with difficult housing circumstances. In 2023 alone, it supported the construction and repair of 7,517 houses for the poor with a total mobilized resource of over 523 billion VND.
After 11 years of implementing the Tet for the poor program, Nghe An province has raised more than 726 billion VND to take care of Tet for hundreds of thousands of poor households. For the 2023 Tet holiday alone, the whole province has mobilized more than 137 billion VND, giving gifts to more than 188,000 poor households, near-poor households, policy families, and social protection beneficiaries, with an average value of at least 500,000 VND per gift...
The Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee deeply acknowledged and expressed gratitude for the kindness and noble gestures of domestic and foreign agencies, organizations, units and individuals, especially enterprises... who have actively responded and practically supported the poor and poor households through the Fund for the Poor at all levels and social security programs and organizations.
As of 9:40 p.m. on January 21, the program "Tet for the poor - Spring of Giap Thin 2024" had 207 agencies, units, businesses and individuals donating more than 140 billion VND.
