In the historic days of April, we returned to the “red addresses” - places associated with the years of “bombs and bullets”. The land that was once “plowed by bombs and bullets” has miraculously changed with endless rice and lemon fields, solid and sturdy houses as evidence of the development after 50 years of national reunification. Thanh Phu commune, Ben Luc district, Long An province is one of those lands!

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, Thanh Phu was a vital traffic route connecting the South and North Route 4, a hot spot on the battlefield of the province. At that time, the enemy used every means to attack and pacify in order to cut off this strategic supply route.

With ardent patriotism and deep hatred for the enemy, the army and people of Thanh Phu steadfastly held their ground, guarded the roads, hid cadres, fought to the end, contributing to embellishing the heroic history of the resistance war against the US, creating a common victory for the entire nation.

In recognition of their great contributions to the fight for independence, freedom and national reunification, in 1998, the Party and State awarded the army and people of Thanh Phu the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces. This is a worthy reward for a steadfast land .

Thanh Phu Commune (Ben Luc District) was recognized as an advanced new rural commune in 2020 and is striving to meet the model new rural standards.

Half a century after the country’s reunification, Thanh Phu has donned a “new coat” and become a livable countryside. The dirt roads of the past are now paved with straight asphalt and concrete. More and more spacious houses are being built.

In 2020, the commune was recognized as meeting the standards of an advanced new rural commune (NTM). Since then, people's lives have been constantly improved. To date, the commune has no more poor or near-poor households, with an average income of 74 million VND/year.

Chairman of Thanh Phu Commune People's Committee - Nguyen Minh Thang said: "In addition to taking care of economic development, the commune also focuses on environmental protection and building a cultural life. Schools and classrooms are invested in, 4/4 schools in the commune meet national standards. The work of protecting and taking care of people's health is always of concern. Currently, 88% of households use clean water, and 95% of people participate in health insurance."

Caring for policy families is considered an important task by Thanh Phu commune (Ben Luc district).

Not only agriculture, industry, trade and services also develop strongly. The commune has 68 enterprises operating effectively, creating jobs for hundreds of workers inside and outside the locality.

With a very special geographical location, during the resistance war for independence and freedom for the Fatherland, under the leadership of the Party, My Le commune, Can Duoc district was an important area for the revolutionary forces and even the enemy. Therefore, after the war, this land was devastated and ruined.

Coming out of the fire, the Party Committee, the government and the people of the commune promoted the heroic tradition in fighting, joined hands, united hearts, and worked creatively, turning the salty, alum-filled land of My Le into a prosperous countryside. Then 50 years have passed since the homeland was cleared of invaders - not a long time compared to the history of the formation of Cho Dao land, but the countryside and the lives of the people of My Le have "changed skin and flesh" every day.

Traffic routes in My Le commune (Can Duoc district) receive synchronous investment attention.

Secretary of the My Le Commune Party Committee - Nguyen Anh Tuan said: “With joint efforts and solidarity, the Party Committee and People of My Le Commune “shared joys and sorrows” to overcome challenges and complete tasks in each historical period. My Le is one of the leading units in the emulation movements of the district, in which the successful construction of a cultural commune and a new rural commune is a typical achievement of the Party Committee and People of My Le”.

Promoting the strengths of the locality with the specialty rice areas of Nang Thom and Tai Nguyen Cho Dao, the commune implemented a model of high-quality rice fields linking "4 houses" to purchase products for farmers.

In addition, the movement to form joint groups and improve fields to promote mechanization in production has initially brought practical results. Food output reached 7,734 tons/year. The area of ​​high-tech vegetables reached 791 tons/year, bringing high income to the people.

92% of households have access to clean water. Over 98% of people have health insurance. Electricity, roads, schools and stations are being built.

Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan (Cau Lang Hamlet, My Le Commune) shared: “Since the construction of the new rural area, the appearance of the commune has improved a lot. In particular, roads have been invested synchronously. People are enthusiastic about doing business, so their lives are increasingly improved.”

Worthy of the name of heroic land

During the resistance war, Thuan My commune, Chau Thanh district was chosen as a base, the place where the leadership of the Saigon - Gia Dinh Party Committee's Division 3, Chau Thanh District Party Committee, etc. was located. This was where the enemy concentrated their fierce attacks, causing heavy losses in human lives and property. Upholding the tradition of patriotism, the army and people of Thuan My were ready to sacrifice to protect the safety of the revolutionary base.

Peace was restored, Thuan My made efforts to heal the wounds of war and build the homeland in difficult and deprived conditions. At that time, the rural infrastructure was weak, essential elements for life such as clean water and electricity were not available; schools, medical stations, temporary housing;...

The historical site of the Sub-Zone Party Committee Base and Sub-Zone Command Headquarters 3 in Thuan My Commune (Chau Thanh District) is a "red address" for educating the younger generation about revolutionary traditions.

With great determination and great efforts, the Party Committee, government and people of Thuan My gradually overcame difficulties and enthusiastically worked and produced. 50 years after the complete liberation of the South, the appearance of the commune has increasingly improved.

In agricultural production, most of them have switched to producing two rice crops. In addition, people have boldly applied science and technology in shrimp farming, bringing high economic efficiency. The commune's economy is increasingly developing, and people's lives are increasingly improving.

The commune was recognized as meeting the model NTM standards in 2024. Currently, the average income per capita is 79.84 million VND/year. Multidimensional poverty is 0.42%. The number of people participating in health insurance is 98.2%.

Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Thuan My Commune - Tran Hoang Sang informed: "The Party Committee and People of Thuan My were twice recognized as Heroes in the resistance war. From a Party cell in 1975 with more than 10 party members, after 50 years of liberation, it has developed into a Party Committee with 14 party cells and 280 party members. In 4 years (2021-2024), the Party Committee of the commune has been continuously recognized as a Party Committee that has excellently fulfilled its tasks. This is a solid premise for Thuan My to continuously develop on the path to prosperity and strength".
