(VTC News) - To ensure the safe operation of Metro Line 1 Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien, maintenance technicians must work hard to avoid making even the smallest mistakes.

When mentioning Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien), many people cannot help but be proud of the new symbol of the city - the first urban railway line in Ho Chi Minh City that meets international standards. Behind the safe trains carrying hundreds of thousands of people, much of it is thanks to the silent work of maintenance technicians.

According to VTC News, from 7:30 a.m., dozens of engineers from the maintenance company (belonging to Urban Railway Company No. 1 - HURC1) were present at Long Binh Depot (Thu Duc City) to meet, deploy work and start a new working day.

The task of maintenance technicians is to manage and maintain the entire technical system, from locomotives to infrastructure.

According to the team leader of the locomotive and car maintenance company, Luu Cao Huy, the construction project of Metro Line 1 is an important project of the city, so the regulations on inspection and maintenance are very strict.

"Before the Metro train is put into maintenance at the main workshop, the technicians of the locomotive and carriage fleet will make a specific work plan for the week, month, and quarter. In which, they will give detailed maintenance time for each train," Mr. Huy informed.

Every day, HURC1 maintenance engineers will inspect and maintain at least 1-2 trains to ensure the train's functions are checked and confirmed before operating on the main line. The inspection process helps ensure that there are no technical problems during operation.

The train inspection consists of 3 stages: inspection on the roof (including inspection of air conditioning, refrigeration, and power), inspection of the lower part (signal equipment, pneumatic systems, brakes), inspection and measurement of standard parameters in the train car, ensuring the functions of the door motor equipment, pneumatics, operation, time, and sound.

"Every step in the maintenance process must be carried out carefully, meticulously and thoroughly. Just one small detail that is overlooked or not performed according to standards can affect the safety of thousands of passengers. Therefore, technicians always work with the highest sense of responsibility," said Mr. Huy.

Metro Line 1 is the first urban railway project in Ho Chi Minh City, with a total investment of more than 43,700 billion VND, nearly 20 km long, from Long Binh depot, Thu Duc to Ben Thanh, District 1. In addition to 11 elevated stations, the line also has 3 underground stations in the city center: Ben Thanh, City Theater and Ba Son. Metro Line 1 project started construction in August 2012, officially operating from December 22, 2024.
