Along with the developing friendly relationship between Vietnam and Thailand, Vietnamese is also increasingly becoming a popular foreign language loved and studied by Thai students, opening up great potential for educational cooperation and cultural exchange between the two countries.
The Vietnamese language department has been taught at Srinakharinwirot University for more than 10 years.
Originally part of the Faculty of Oriental Languages, Vietnamese was later upgraded to become part of the international programs in communicative languages, and was further revised to become part of the ASEAN languages and cultures.
In Ms. Nguyen Thi Chiem’s Vietnamese class, Faculty of Humanities, Srinakharinwirot University, more than 20 students are attentively listening to the teacher explain about homonyms in Vietnamese. The atmosphere in the class becomes more lively when the teacher switches to a game to practice using the words they have just learned.
Associate Professor, Dr. Anchalee Chansem, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Srinakharinwirot University, affirmed that Vietnamese is a very beneficial language for students because they can consider it a tool to apply for jobs.
Associate Professor, Dr. Achalee emphasized: “I believe that since we live in the same ASEAN community, mutual understanding of both language and culture will strengthen our bond and the future careers of our students.”./.
