These days, many locals and tourists passing by the coastal route DT 701 through the two communes of Phuoc Diem and Phuoc Dinh, Ninh Thuan are amazed by the scene of the mountain slopes along the road being "dyed purple" by the color of Lagerstroemia flowers.
Wild Lagerstroemia flowers bloom in clusters, competing to show off their colors, creating a poetic and romantic natural picture.

Lagerstroemia grows in clumps, typical of arid regions, with small, multi-branched trunks and large thorns. July is the time when wild Lagerstroemia flowers in Ninh Thuan bloom.
Unlike other varieties of Lagerstroemia grown along roads in urban areas or in parks, Lagerstroemia on the coast of Ninh Thuan blooms densely from the base to the top, in dense clusters, light purple-pink and even purple-red depending on the time of blooming.

Ms. Hien Dung in Dai Son ward (Phan Rang - Thap Cham city) shared: "Although I was born and raised in Ninh Thuan, this is the first time I have admired the beautiful scenery of wild Lagerstroemia growing naturally on rocky mountains and mountain slopes."
Lagerstroemia flowers blooming all over the coastal forest area attract many tourists to the coastal road of Ca Na - Mui Dinh to both admire and enjoy the fresh air here.

Mr. Tran Ngoc Hieu - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ninh Thuan province - said that in May and June 2024, Ninh Thuan province had a lot of rain, so the natural forest trees here grew well, including Lagerstroemia trees.
In particular, this is the first time that wild Lagerstroemia trees growing naturally on rocky mountains and coastal slopes in Phuoc Dinh and Phuoc Diem communes have bloomed.
The agricultural sector recommends that people living near forests enhance their sense of responsibility for the community, not dig up or uproot wild Lagerstroemia trees, and promptly prevent the illegal exploitation, transportation, and trading of ornamental plants originating from natural forests.

Mr. Hieu said the agricultural sector is determined to preserve forest resources and the endemic forest ecosystem here, increase forest cover, prevent erosion, and enhance the aesthetics of the habitat along both sides of the coastal road.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ninh Thuan province has directed forest rangers, especially local forest rangers and specialized forest protection forces, to patrol and control to promptly detect and handle cases of unauthorized entry into the forest to exploit ornamental plants originating from natural forests, especially wild Lagerstroemia species.
