The President praised the diplomatic sector for continuously consolidating the country's position and power, expanding friendly relations and cooperation with other countries, and enhancing the country's role and position in the international arena.
On the afternoon of December 12, in Hanoi, President Luong Cuong visited and worked with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Attending the meeting were comrades Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee's External Relations Commission; Le Khanh Hai, Head of the Office of the President; Hoang Dang Quang, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee; Duong Quoc Hung, Assistant to the President and representatives of the Office of the President and the Central External Relations Commission.
On the side of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there were comrade Bui Thanh Son, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with leaders of the Ministry and leaders of units within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son expressed his honor and warmly welcomed President Luong Cuong to work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, demonstrating deep concern and being a great source of encouragement for the entire diplomatic sector.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son said that since the beginning of the 13th National Party Congress, under the leadership of the Party, directly and regularly led by the Politburo, the Secretariat and other Party and State leaders, foreign affairs work has been carried out synchronously, comprehensively, flexibly and creatively, achieving many important results, contributing to creating an unprecedented favorable and open foreign situation.
At the new historical starting point of the nation, the Diplomatic sector is facing the strategic task of consolidating the existing favorable foreign situation, placing Vietnam in a favorable position, serving to bring the country into a new era, the era of national development. At the same time, building a comprehensive, modern, professional diplomacy, especially the arrangement of the organization and apparatus of foreign affairs agencies in the spirit of Resolution 18-NQ/TW, Session XII.
On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reporting on foreign affairs and the building and development of the diplomatic sector since the beginning of the 13th Congress term, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang stated that in the context of the world situation moving rapidly towards multipolarity, multi-center, multi-level, along with the most complex, multi-dimensional, unprecedented changes after the Cold War, foreign affairs work has made efforts to contribute to the implementation of the strategic tasks set forth by the 13th Congress Resolution, including the development goals until 2030 and 2045.
On the basis of closely following the guidelines of the 13th Congress, foreign affairs work has achieved outstanding results:
One is to actively institutionalize and concretize foreign policies; two is to contribute to the effective implementation of the important and regular tasks of maintaining a peaceful and stable environment, protecting the Fatherland and protecting peace, early and from afar; three is to effectively implement the central task of serving development; four is to constantly enhance the country's position and prestige, continue to deepen relations with priority and key partners, stabilize and sustain, increase contributions to maintaining peace and stability in the region and the world, raise the level of multilateral diplomacy, promote the role of an active and responsible member in the international community; five is to continue to effectively and comprehensively implement other foreign affairs areas, including work for overseas Vietnamese, consular and citizen protection, foreign information work, cultural diplomacy and local foreign affairs.
Regarding the work of building and developing the Diplomatic sector in a comprehensive, modern and professional direction, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively perfecting its functions, tasks and arranging its apparatus to meet the tasks in the new situation, in the direction of "refined, compact, strong, effective, efficient and effective"; completing the Strategy for building and developing the Diplomatic sector to submit to the Government for approval.
At the working session, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations Le Hoai Trung, Head of the Office of the President Le Khanh Hai, and Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee Hoang Dang Quang highly appreciated the implementation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' work in recent times, saying that the country's overall achievements in foreign affairs have important contributions from the diplomatic sector.
Delegates expressed their agreement with the assessments, comments and recommendations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and at the same time contributed some additional opinions on professional political work, industry building work, as well as coordination in implementing foreign affairs tasks.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, President Luong Cuong congratulated the achievements of the foreign affairs and diplomacy sector in the cause of revolution, protection, construction and development of the country.
The President highly appreciated and warmly commended the important achievements of generations of leaders and diplomats.
Since the beginning of the 13th National Congress term, in the context of a very complicated and challenging world and regional situation, foreign affairs and diplomacy have achieved many very important and historic achievements, contributing to the overall achievements of the country.
Most importantly, diplomacy has strongly promoted its pioneering role in creating and maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for development, protecting the Fatherland early and from afar, firmly protecting independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Foreign affairs and diplomacy have continuously consolidated the country's position and power, expanded friendly relations and cooperation with neighboring countries, regions, traditional friends and partners; and enhanced the country's role and position in the international arena.
Regarding the orientation for foreign affairs in the coming time, President Luong Cuong agreed with the proposals and recommendations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in terms of goals, viewpoints, principles and groups of solutions.
The President emphasized the principle of "remaining constant and responding to all changes," skillfully combining national strength and the strength of the times, being steadfast in strategic goals and flexible in tactics, ensuring the highest national interests.
On the basis of consistently implementing the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations, foreign affairs must perform the primary task of contributing to ensuring a peaceful and stable environment, mobilizing external resources and favorable conditions for national development.
As General Secretary To Lam has directed, “along with ensuring national defense and security, promoting foreign affairs is a regular and important task,” the defense-security-foreign affairs forces need to continue to closely coordinate to protect the Fatherland early, from afar, when the country is not yet in danger, determining this as the priority of priorities.
The President pointed out that to complete this task, foreign affairs need to do a good job of research, consulting, and forecasting, and that tasks that have been done well need to be done even better.
Referring to the fact that the Diplomatic sector had the honor of being founded by President Ho Chi Minh, who laid the foundation and was the first Minister of Foreign Affairs, the President said that 2025 will be a very important milestone, and the Diplomatic sector needs to have practical and meaningful activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the sector's founding.
On the other hand, the President assessed that the Party building and the diplomatic sector's work in recent times have promoted traditions, unique strengths and made many improvements, but need to continue to innovate more strongly; at the same time, doing well the work of organizing, arranging the apparatus, training and evaluating cadres in the spirit of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW on "Some issues on continuing to innovate and arrange the apparatus of the political system to be streamlined, effective and efficient," closely linking ideological, organizational and policy work, identifying cadre work as the key of the key, so that the team of foreign affairs cadres is worthy of being the vanguard in creating peace, attracting external resources and conditions for national development.
Along with that, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs needs to carefully prepare for party congresses at all levels, towards the 14th Party Congress.
Receiving the direction of President Luong Cuong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son requested all officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to seriously grasp and effectively implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress with the highest determination and effort, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, actively creating momentum to prepare for the 14th National Party Congress and bringing the country into a new era./.
