Mr. Nguyen Son Lam, recruitment and talent attraction expert of Navigos Group, said that the forecast of human resource demand in 2024 in Vietnam is not outside the general fluctuations of the recruitment market in the world.

"Although the labor situation in Vietnam is also facing many difficulties when 82% of businesses participating in the Navigos Group survey said they were affected, resulting in more than 68% of businesses choosing to cut staff to cope with this challenging period. However, 59.1% of businesses will still recruit about 25% more staff in 2024," Mr. Lam informed.

New graduates will also be given priority in recruitment by businesses.

According to Mr. Lam, new job positions will gradually appear, focusing on artificial intelligence, digital technology, data processing, business situation analysis, such as AI and machine learning experts, sustainability experts, business intelligence analysts, information security analysts, Fintech engineers, data analysts and scientists, robotic engineers, data experts, agricultural machinery and equipment operation experts, digital transformation experts.

"In particular, businesses prioritize recruiting personnel with good problem-solving skills, 1-3 years of experience but not yet in management, followed by new graduates and department managers," said Mr. Lam.

According to Navigos' survey, the information technology and telecommunications sector will still pay the highest salaries in the near future, for example, the salary of a software developer is 3,000-5,000 USD/month, an experienced person who has not yet become a manager has a salary of 1,500-3,000 USD/month; a data specialist is 3,000-8,000 USD/month, an experienced person who has not yet become a manager is from 1,200-3,500 USD/month)... The salary for the position of department head is up to 3,000-6,000 USD/month...

Next are insurance, securities, health care services, financial services and consulting...

Mr. Lam believes that in the current volatile market context, candidates with work experience, adaptability, problem solving... will be given priority by businesses. Specifically, the problem solving factor ranked first, with 51.7% choosing from businesses. Right after that is the factor of having 1-3 years of work experience and effective communication skills. Ranking 4th and 5th in the survey results are foreign language and adaptability to change.

More than 40,000 jobs with salary over 20 million VND/month

The Center for Human Resource Demand Forecasting and Labor Market Information of Ho Chi Minh City has also recently surveyed the labor demand of 2,000 enterprises and the job search needs of 12,000 students at 11 universities, 38 colleges, and 41 secondary schools in the city.

Information technology is still a hot field in 2024

Accordingly, in 2024, Ho Chi Minh City forecasts that the number of employed workers will be about 4.8 million people: agriculture, forestry and fishery (about 72,000 people), construction industry (about 1.4 million people) and trade and services (about 3.2 million people).

Leaders account for 0.85%, high-level technical experts account for 17.44%, middle-level technical experts account for 5.67%, employees account for 3.36%, personal services-sales services account for 27.27%, assemblers and machine operators account for 22.77%, simple occupations account for 10%...

Based on the 2024 economic growth scenario of the Ho Chi Minh City Statistics Office, it is estimated that the city will need about 300,000-320,000 jobs in 2024. Specifically, the first quarter will need about 77,500-86,000 jobs, the second quarter will need 75,000-77,000, the third quarter will need about 68,000-73,000, and the fourth quarter will need about 78,000-83,000.
