Can Tho City Industry and Trade Department introduces list of projects calling for investment

(CT) - On the morning of April 4, in Can Tho City, the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City held a conference to introduce the list of projects calling for investment in the Industry and Trade sector of Can Tho City until 2030. The conference was attended by leaders of the Department of Industry and Trade of centrally-run cities, some provinces of the Mekong Delta, the Southeast and businesses.

From a practical perspective, at the conference, representatives of a number of businesses presented projects that are being researched and implemented in the city such as the Can Tho New Generation Online Rice Market project, the Can Tho Biomass Power Plant project, etc.

Can Tho City is the economic, cultural, scientific and technological center of the Mekong Delta, with a strategic position in the economic development of the region and the whole country. With advantages in road, waterway and air transport, Can Tho is gradually becoming an important logistics center, a hub for trade, import and export, and the agricultural and aquatic product processing industry of the region.

In order to realize the city's socio-economic development goals by 2030, the People's Committee of Can Tho City has issued a list of projects to attract investment in Can Tho City for the period 2023-2025, with a vision to 2030. Among them, there are projects calling for investment in the fields of industry, trade, logistics, renewable energy and modern commercial infrastructure. These are key projects with high feasibility, in line with the city's sustainable development orientation.

In his opening speech, Mr. Ha Vu Son, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City, emphasized that the cooperation in trade development between Can Tho City and a number of provinces and cities across the country has brought about many remarkable results up to now. The city's trade infrastructure is increasingly complete, modern and widely distributed, contributing to the development of urban infrastructure, increasing the total retail sales of goods and service revenue in the area, giving people many shopping options. The results from the cooperation have helped Can Tho businesses have many opportunities to expand and develop, bringing products and goods to markets across the country. However, besides the achieved results, the work of linking and developing cooperation between provinces and cities in the past still has limitations that need to be overcome. Hopefully, from this conference, localities will find appropriate solutions for the work of linking, developing trade, connecting supply and demand to bring higher efficiency.

At the conference, a signing ceremony of the Trade Cooperation Memorandum took place between the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City and the Department of Industry and Trade of Hue City and a trade cooperation agreement between distributors and manufacturers.
