At the meeting, Mr. Erik Larsen, Senior Vice President of Umpqua Bank, said that Umpqua Bank has a capitalization value of about 60 billion USD and operates in 10 states of the United States. This bank has many opportunities to cooperate with leading large enterprises in the United States and the world. Therefore, this bank is ready to be a bridge for large enterprises of the United States to cooperate and do business in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general.
“ Before visiting Vietnam, we were fortunate to have met with many of your large businesses. Many US businesses have come to Vietnam to do business and many other businesses are also looking forward to coming to Vietnam to seek cooperation opportunities in the future,” said Mr. Erik Larsen.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, shared that the leaders and people of Ho Chi Minh City are eager to cooperate with US cities, including Oakland. He hopes that the two cities will have a cooperation framework in the near future to immediately implement activities.

The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee hopes to cooperate with Oakland City in particular and the United States in general on the issue of combating climate change. Especially technological solutions as well as support from the US climate change fund (green finance) to help Ho Chi Minh City adapt to climate change.
Mr. Mai also hopes to promote investment between Oakland, California and Ho Chi Minh City. Especially promoting investment in clean energy development, high technology, digital transformation...
“ Currently, the turnover between Ho Chi Minh City and the United States is about 10 billion USD. We hope that the US will invest and support Ho Chi Minh City in developing chip technology and increasing import and export,” said Mr. Mai.
According to Mr. Mai, Ho Chi Minh City is the center of the Southern region, with a total population of about 40 million people. The city has the largest seaport and airport in the country. Therefore, Ho Chi Minh City invites investors from the United States to come to Ho Chi Minh City to increase import and export turnover between the two sides.
The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also hopes to cooperate with the United States to build and develop an international financial center. In addition, the city also hopes to cooperate to develop the fields of health, education and culture.
“ We hope that the mayor will agree with the above cooperation frameworks. After that, the Department of Home Affairs of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee will contact and immediately implement cooperation activities. We affirm that the city government will act more effectively and always listen to and resolve problems for investors,” said Mr. Mai.

Ms. Sheng Thao, Mayor of Oakland City, said that she agreed to build a specific cooperation framework with Ho Chi Minh City. Oakland City will send authorized representatives to work with Ho Chi Minh City to develop cooperation between the two sides.
“ I am very happy to be a bridge between Ho Chi Minh City and Oakland. Our delegation really likes Ho Chi Minh City. I am surprised by the development of this city. This will be a great destination for American businesses in general and Oakland in particular,” said Ms. Sheng Thao.
