A series of banks such as VietinBank, Agribank, Vietcombank, etc. open transactions on weekends to serve customers in updating identification information and biometric authentication.
In just a few days, bank accounts that have not been biometrically authenticated will have their online money transfers or withdrawals using QR codes suspended; bank accounts that have not updated their new chip-embedded citizen identification information will also have their transactions completely suspended from January 1, 2025.
VietinBank, Agribank, and Vietcombank said they will open transactions on weekends to support corporate/business customers in updating their identification documents and support individual customers in updating their biometrics.
From December 14-28, VietinBank opens transaction offices on Saturdays and Sundays (from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) to serve corporate/business customers to carry out procedures to change personal identification information to comply with the regulations in Circular 17/2024/TT-NHNN.
At Agribank, from December 2 to January 13, 2025, the bank continuously worked overtime throughout the week (including weekends) to serve customers in updating their identification and biometric information.
Vietcombank said it has organized overtime and weekend work to serve customers from November 23 to January 15, 2025. In some industrial zones, the number of customers who are factory and company employees coming to update their biometrics has increased dramatically, especially on weekends.
At VPBank, the bank said it continues to enhance the most optimal and convenient support solutions for customers. If customers encounter difficulties in the process of updating biometrics, they can request support through the form "VPBank staff support implementation" on the notification display screen.
Banks recommend customers to be vigilant against forms of fraud and scams.
The fact that banks proactively organize overtime work and apply modern technology to biometric authentication has received high appreciation from customers, demonstrating the great efforts of the entire system in serving and supporting customers to update information according to the regulations of the State Bank of Vietnam, thereby contributing to enhancing the reputation of banks in the financial sector.
According to Circular 17 of the State Bank of Vietnam, from January 1, 2025, payment account holders/bank card holders will have their withdrawal or payment transactions suspended if the identification information in the registration file with the bank expires. According to the 2023 Law on Identification (Law No. 26/2023/QH15), by December 31, 2024, identity cards (9-digit and 12-digit types) will no longer be valid for use in procedures and transactions. |
