TPO – Within a certain time frame, the robots have the task of carrying heavy objects, climbing ropes, and performing fire rescue activities to impress the judges…
On June 21, 6 teams from universities and colleges across the country competed in the final round of the "Fpoly Robot Competition 2024 - Firefighters" organized by FPT Polytechnic College.

These are the excellent teams that surpassed hundreds of teams from colleges and universities across the country in online rounds in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Da Nang...
Mr. Tran Van Nam - Vice Principal of FPT Polytechnic College said that recently, there have been many fires in urban areas across the country, especially in high-rise buildings. Rescue work is very difficult, requiring firefighters to master complex rescue skills. To minimize unwanted accidents during the rescue process, specialized equipment and modern technology are needed - capable of replacing humans.

“The competition aims to promote creative ideas in the student community in general, encouraging them to turn their ideas into reality, which is to design a self-propelled robot mechanism, a controlled robot that can participate in high-altitude rescue, with precise rope climbing and self-propelled skills, supporting fire prevention and rescue forces,” Mr. Nam shared.
In the final round, 6 teams showed their creative ideas and exciting performances through the shape of robots. Team “Chicken Dinner” consisting of 4 students from FPT Polytechnic College, Da Nang campus, created a wirelessly controlled robot measuring 40cm long, 40cm wide, 40cm high, and weighing 7kg, capable of moving flexibly on terrain with small slopes; picking up artifacts, holding and moving, and placing objects in the correct position. With a stable performance, “Chicken dinner” won the final round, receiving the highest prize, worth 10,000,000.

Dau Duc Trung – Captain of the “Chicken dinner” team said that the whole team had been practicing enthusiastically for months to achieve this encouraging result. “By participating in the competition, we not only had access to effective sensor solutions, accumulated a lot of useful knowledge, improved our practical skills, but also had the opportunity to unleash our creativity in automation, connect with students who have the same passion for the profession and continue to develop our creative ideas”, Trung shared.

Evaluating the competition, Lieutenant Colonel Nha Thi Thu Ha - Deputy Captain of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team, District 12 Police, Ho Chi Minh City said that this is a very encouraging competition, worth replicating nationwide so that in the future we will have modern equipment created and produced by Vietnamese people, first of all to serve and support Vietnamese people. The support of robots to transport materials during the rescue process is very important, especially in places with high heat and toxicity.

“In the competition, students had ideas and made efforts to design robots that can transport heavy objects and overcome complex terrain. They demonstrated relatively precise techniques in controlling robots and the robot interface is also user-friendly.
However, it will take more time, especially support from the authorities and the business community in both theory and practice, as well as material conditions so that students in general have the opportunity to turn similar creative ideas into reality with a higher level of development, useful in fire prevention and fighting and rescue work," said Lieutenant Colonel Ha.
